250 XS or 250 Pro XS

barring noise and warranty, the 250 XS seems like what I'd want on my 1980 Enchanter. Got a new Bob's jackplate with 6 inches of setback. The sportmaster lower unit seems killer. It would replace a 250ox66 yamaha. Been running a 25 inch lazer II on the yamaha and hit 68.9 on my new GPS(71 on the speedo). Any opinions on why I might ought go the Pro XS route rather than the Mercury Racing XS model?

I have a couple brand new, in the box, 250XS offshores. The Proxs does not come with a sportmaster and does not have solid mounts, where the XS does. The 250XS normally has a 2 year warrantee, but I got a 5 year warrantee on both of them. $15,000 with a Sportmaster, $13,900 with a torquemaster, or $12,500 without gearcase. These are OFFSHORES and have the stronger clamp bracket and trim pump in the boat. Email liberatorboats@yahoo.com

Unless you plan on gettin over 80, that sportmaster will slow you down. 250XS Offshore with a Torquemaster for 13,900 WITH A 5 YEAR WARRANTY! That's a tough deal to beat right there!!

dont know enough about the motors, sounds like a awesome deal though!!

i know the enchanters like setback...the more the merrier! id go with more setback, had 15" on mine. ran 83s with a 260 on it and a nosecone

Are offshore 20 or 25 in.

going from a 4 to 6 inch setback made a huge difference in stability and water pickup but to me there was a trade off. The boat isn't loose and doesn't jump out of the hole as w/ the 4in setback. I gladly take what I gained over what I lost increaseing the setback.. Couldn't imagine how she would handle w/ more setback.

Just now got back to this thread. Got to go right now and gut up 700 pounds of red snapper we caought yesterday and my machanic just emailed me to meet up and assess the damage on the old yamaha thats been hanging on the transom dead since 12/21/10. Locked up at 3/4 throttle w/ 48 hours on a new factory powerhead w/o warranty. Don't have a clue as to why. All hail Sea Tow.

Got to go gut fish. As Arnold says: I'll be back.
