400R Eating Props

Pretty sure its the waketower causing this. Take it off and see how it does hahaha ! Iknow guys running 1000hp and not throwing blades hmmmmm.

:rof:I knew this freakin wake board tower was messing something up. To bad I have only used the tower as a Bimini and not for wake boarding... When I bought the boat I had to pay the crazy $5K for the tower even though I did not want it.

Since then it's grown on me and the kids like it for learning to water ski. The best part is the look on some people faces that think they have go fast boats and some frickin wakeboard boat (me) blows their doors off and eat some rooster tail:lol:

That's far from a wakeboard boat. Those things have huge HP and a top speed of 45. Not sure if it's by design or if flat billed hats and white sunglasses slow them down.

Heck, just throw some rod holders on there and go trolling! You'd have one bad azz fishing machine!!

:rof::rof:You guys come up with some funny sheet. I'm LMAO hanging busted props as wind chimes. Heck I should use the props as wind mills for a little extra power:D

Tom Kane

I broke several props on a HYDROSTREAM Viking 18.6 boat with modified Mercury. Mine (do not know about yours) was 28 inch Chopper caused directly by engine set up to high, with top blade running out of the water. Was told the blade was twisting as it went from no water to water, and after about a few months it would do exactly what your pictures show. Did not have a HYD jack plate but a permanent mount. Boat ran VERY VERY GOOD. In EVERY CASE it would crack only one blade. Blades were VERY SHARP, THINNED AND
flawless. No cracks chips etc until they woukd without warning crack. Tried to weld them but that did not work.

Cryogenics is the solution, I broke my 26 Blaster lost 1/2 a blade, sent it out to to get fixed and cryoed it as soon as I got it back haven’t broken a blade since. I’ve cryoed all my props for good measure, Spinellis, Mazcos, Dewalts, Bravos and Hydros, I run my 400R with high X dimension as well as my TUFF with the 300XS’s. On my 400R I run a 4.88” Sportmaster that Nick at Nicks Creative Marine modified and built for me for the 400R, I cryoed the entire gearcase, internals and all and so far its taken all the abuse i can throw at it and keeps coming back for more :)

James, how does the Sportmaster compare with your stock case on the 400R? Have you picked up any speed or improved handling?
