has anyone ever run a 74 up to 5000 rpm Im hitting 4600 now with stage one procharger and turning a labbed 28 bravo and hitting 71 on gps so Im thinking about setting the rev limiter to 5000 and changing pulleys to boost 7 lbs of boost from 5

Nice meeting you &Mrs at cumberland.
I think you would be putting a lot of extra strain on that 7.4. Cast pistons dont like much boost.

My boat has a 454 mag efi, this means forged, pistons, crank, rods. I run a pro-chager M1sc @ 5lbs of boost. I have also put Iconel exhaust valves, $350.00 for 8 of them, fel-pro marine head gaskets, ARP head bolts, just to make it last. I can run it to 5300 rpms But I stay under that.
Your 7.4 will not hold up to more boost or higher rpms, and I would be very concerned about its life span in it's current condition. If it were me I would run 3 1/2 lbs of boost and leave it @ 4600 RPms. I'm sorry to tell you that, but it will blow if you try to lean on any harder.
