77 Trimate II Lack of Storage

i recently purchased a 1977 trimate 2 and i am in lack of storage. i was thinking about putting a large cooler or truck storage box in the back in front of the gas tank. i just want a place to put stuff like couple life jackets, flairs, horn, wallet, car keys. dont wanna spend a lot nor take up a lot room. anyone have any ideas?

I would try to keep AS LITTLE as possible in the boat at all times. Unless you want the thing to be a barge, you have to keep an eye on the weight you're hauling around.
I pack the boat each time before I go out, and only take what I need. The safety stuff should stay in there all the time obviously - fire extinguisher, oar, flag/flares, etc.

Don't you have some room either behind the back seat or under the front seats? What about either side right along the gunwales?

there is a little room behind the back seats but the battery is on one side and its really only about a foot or so wide. plus the wind blows that **** all around. i dont have any room under the front seat either.

My Trimate II has a cooler storage type box in the middle of the back seat, I keep a tool set in there, then along the gunner walls I keep a paddle , and in the very nose there is a little storage area that is where the life vests are kept. I have a zip bag that I keep the anchors in and that sits in the front on the seat:thumb:

I used to keep all the life jackets and ropes in a mesh laundry bag up in the nose and the rest of the neccesitys in small waterproof containers allong the gunnals. Or under the back seats.
If the original seating is still in there there should be room between the back seats that can be used for a small cooler that could double as an arm rest if you can get one just the right size with a flat top.
