" For Sale" 80MPH playmate

Further update. Seller indicates vessel is turn key and runs excellent. Motor "may or may not be modified". Motor was "owned by APBA racer and used in some races" Personally, I'm thinkin that if we could spin a 50 horse Merc to 8500 rpm, we might see 60 mph through a 1.7 ratio gearcase? Might be time for the HAMMER...

Get him Jim, are you communicating by phone or email? If by email I would love to read your interaction firsthand.

Do not underestimate the potential of the magical mystery prop to use its two blades to propel you to speeds thought unobtainable by mere mortals.

Maybe we should have had Dave talk to him(Seller of 80 mph Playmate). I guess I didn't do so well. I haven't heard back from him after I asked about the handling of the vessel at and above the reported top speed. He might be on to me. A truely sad turn of events, HAMMER all raised up and no place to drop it as yet...

I seen a guy claim this today on the CM Facebook page and I thought of this thread so I figured I'd post it up for a laugh.

Im running at pulse 186 with a 200 Opti and Mirage three Blade and only get a little chine from 65-70 maybe after that all the way to 100+ its smooth as glass.

:rof:

"Bottom is good there is a decent scratch under there but no damage. Yes it is a
solid little boat. The prop on it is a 15 p racing two blade.I can throw in another
prop if needed. Yes i have title registration for boat and no title for trailer as
we do not title trailers here in WI. I WILL HAVE to print you out a bill of sale for
the trailer so you can get it titled in your state".

Probably glad it's not an indecent scratch. I think this guys onto me, no response now at all. I was real excited too, if this guy is gettin 80 out of the two blade with 50 hp, I figure I could get more on account of the 2.5. Then I got to 'thinkin while drinkin' and figure if I cut it down to one blade and have it cupped, the skys the limit, might even be able to keep up with one of them big twins...

In that case I am taking my boat to your local sandbar. That has to be the cheapest speed trick I have ever heard of.:rof:

It makes me sick. My wife hates it because evertime I go by a boat with thru-hull-exhaust I yell, "must do 80!"

It was the worst when I had my Pulsare, now that I have a slow I/O most people don't brag about speeds.

If I didn't know better I'd say there was something wrong with my boat. The majority of people who ask me about my boat either have, have had, or has a relative that has had a Checkmate or similar boat that went 70 or more with only a clapped out 120hp OM V4. I think I'm going to just start telling everyone mine does 80 from now on. :)

Stay away from twin I/O's I heard they are really slow. I think Brian has managed to hit 29.9 gps with a tailwind.
You forgot to add in that it was "down water", not down stream. You know kinda like "down hill" but on water :rof: My "up water" speeds were way slower :irked:

I emailed the guy,
What speed on the water? 80 must be on the trailer getting pulled down hill.
And his response,
Come give it a try on water if your not too scared Ha Ha Ha...

Someone really needs to go see this boat, cause were all doing something wrong!

Just in case Mr A**** is backpeddling about, concerning his high speed vessel,WTF! A Checkmate Owner, afraid of speed? I hardly think so. Scooby snacks are not only being smoked but inhaled too. We welcome speed like a cool drink or breeze on a warm day. Here, we embrace the upper velocities in a knowledgable, truthful, learned, safe, and good natured way. Soon as I replace the Maypop tires on my trailer, I'll show this youngster just what a 80 mph Playmate looks like....
