85 enforcer

What do you guys think about an 85 enforcer with a 57 magnum. Will this thing be powerful enough to get out of its own way with about 3 or 4 people in it or should a bbc be the way to go for this size boat?

It won't be the fastest thing out there but it should still pull 50-55 mph I believe. Alpha or Bravo drive? Are you looking at buying one? It all depends on how fast you want to go.

Its an alpha. And in really nice shape. I also got my eye on another same boat hull not as nice but bb power. and about 1500.oo cheaper. can't decide

What if I go with the nicer of the two which is the one with the small block? If I were to add aluminum heads new cam intake manifold and such, would it make a big enough difference to make it perform as well or better than a big block?

You can get good hp from a small block. Weak link will always be the alpha drive. They don't care for torque. Much past the stock 260 hp, they live on borrowed time. All depends on how you drive it too. If you are easy on it out of the hole and don't let it catch air it will live with more hp. Good maintenance and syn oils are a must too.

Or you can just buy them both and swap drivetrains!

If you are looking for speed or an engine to build in the future, go with the bravo drive.

Can a bravo just be bolted on to it with out replacing the gimble if need be. fuse i am really leaning towards the enforcer with the small block. she is really nice.

the one with the big block has an alpha one in it also. so it seems to me that the one with the small block is probably the best choice. Its in better shape and turn key. the big block one has not even been in the water since the rebuild and the guy painted it with bottom paint so it looks nasty and that stuff is hard to get off.

If they are both Alpha boats then pick the one you like the best. It sounds like you have already made the decision. I agree on the staying away from bottom paint.

Alpha/big block is a bad combo. The old 330 hp 454 had enough torqueto kill an alpha pretty easily. Go for the better of the two then. Bottom paint is a PITA and i would avoid it. You can build up that small block to around 300-350 hp and it will live for a while. Bravi drives require a completely different gimbal assy to bolt on. There is a performance alpha builder that has stellar results....but as usual, it isnt cheap.

Here is an enforcer with a bb that belongs to a member here.

Enforcer 23
Ok guys, I have a pretty serious prospect on my boat so I'm not going to make any other commitments right now. But if this deal does not go through, I may be interested in trading it for a nice 2100LD, boat and trailer. A couple of you sent me pm's last fall so you know who you are. If still interested, pm me and stay in touch.

I got a "salmon" leisure suit from my dad in the closet that'd go perfect with your raspberry boat.

I have an 85 Enforcer with SBC power. I think it moves pretty well, but that depends on what your definition is on getting out of its own way is.

Allegedly and I say allegedly the PO installed a 383, my boat definitely has a cam, EMI thunder manifolds, silent choice exhaust and a Edlebrock Carb and intake.

I will be doing some engine work this spring and plan on taking the heads off check the pistons and see if there is a part number on them to verify the engine was gone through amongst some other engine work that will probably shorten the life of my Alpha
