85 Starflite Headliner Material

Ok, several years have gone by since the resto and I now want to replace the headliner material.

What is that fuzzy stuff called and where can I buy it?

When I did my resto I bought the 16 oz carpet. That was a waste of money. I think I saw a post here that said the factory uses 40 oz carpet. I can't find anything heavier than 24 oz with the rubber back. Anyone have a source for this? Or is the 24 oz the correct material?

Thanks in advance.

I may decide to sell the Flite in the spring and go larger for a more comfortable ride so I want to spruce up the details over the winter.

Thanks Keith. But that fur is listed as 3" thick. It would be just a bit too long.

Most sites I have found sell that length. I am looking for a 1" pile length.

Jo Ann's is a chain store. I know they have stores in NJ. Their site says there's one in May's Landing.

OK, I stopped by my local Jo-Anne Fabrics and I believe this is the stuff that I used. It matched what I had taken out of my flite. Its called plush felt and comes in a few colors. Here is a pic of the barcode so you can get some numbers off of it and see if somebody local to you has some in stock you can check out. Sorry for the huge pic.

You guys are good.

Now the question is, would it look good in a new boat? Or would that be too retro, as in, it puts the grrr back in swingrrr baby, yeah. :D

It would be perfect for a van that says "free candy" on the side. :poke:

Thanks Corey that will be a big help.

Coop, :rof: there are always better ideas if you keep an open mind.

I think it will be best to keep the boat as original as possible. Why else would someone want to buy a 28 year old boat. (One that is stronger than the original factory work). I was asked if I had planned on hanging a pair of 300's on the back after the resto. I wonder who that was?
