87 enforcer o/b overhaul

So I've be thinking about selling my enforcer And get a I/O so I have a sun deck and swim platform for the ol lady. Now Ive decided to keep and this winter I'm gonna put a new paint job or wrap not sure which yet, redo interior. Them I have a few other ideas I'm contemplating but wanted to get some input from everyone. Besides paint and interior I was going to to make a fiberglass windshield for a more sleek look but I saw a pic of one just with the windshield off and it looked pretty darn good plus I figured I could always put it back on if I wanted too. Next was the carpet, I'm not a big fan of it so I was thinking about getting my friend to spray it with truck bed liner or using the garage paint to make it look more like fiberglass, but not sure how that will hold up? Also pull off the rails as well.

So that's my few ideas I have for it this winters project. Seeing what everyone thinks about it? Also if anyone has done or tried any of those? In a sense I would like for it to stay original but then again I like to be different and customize my toys. Lol!

Having ditched the windshield [pic], you know I like the look. I went in this direction after seeing the Boat of the Year 2007 on this site. However, keep in mind that if your cockpit cover snaps to the windshield you will have to modify or get another one.

I kept the windshield bolt holes and just glued (3M 4000) little plastic plugs in them so I or the next owner could just bolt the windshield back on.

I also had to use an impact driver to get my rails off since the screws were so corroded. So don't be surprised if that's not an easy job.

You can go here and here for some pictures of how the windshield area turned out. I added Finney wind flaps to mine.

BTW, my cabin floor had bedliner and I hated it. I think it looks awful and it holds dirt. If you don't want carpet I'd check out Nautolex, Lonseal, Pirelli or one of the other types of marine flooring. The regular Nautolex is not thick enough to hide seams in the floor. But they do make thicker stuff.

Nice looking boat. I'll try and get some pics of mine up soon, I can't do it from my phone.

I'll check out The marine flooring you named that might be the better route to take instead of the bed liner. Probally lighter too!

I guess once I take the windshield off I'll step back am take a good look at it with a beer and think about how I like it. Lol! My idea I had with fiberglassing a windshield was to possibly fab In a spot to put a gps in so it sits in there flush and maybe a double din cd/tv player for those night cruises to the marina for dinner and karaoke.

I'd like to see pics of anyone that has fiberglassed a windshield? Trying to get a idea where to start it from on the bow?

Thanks for the help and input.

So you're talking about a "fairing"?

When I was researching what I wanted to do I read an old thread on another site about fairings that points to other threads that show the build. I just looked it up again and here it is.

Depending on how far back your motor sits on the transom adding a sun pad would be easy. My Enforcer has a sunpad with an OB motor. Before I replaced the transom the splashwell was underneath the pad.

I was thinking about doing twins. I saw I guy that has a bass boat for sale by my house with a match 200hp mariner. What type of reinforcement to the transom would I need to do? And how much setback?

That looks sweet. With twin 200's you think I would run in the mid 80's? I'm sure I would have to reinforce the transom but do you think I would have to redo the whole thing am do away with the splash well or could I leave it? It would definitely look better to do away with it and put a small swim deck there. Just don't know if I have the twin to get that far into it in one winter with everything else I want to do. Plus money. Lol!

Dont forget if your running twins...your second motor needs to be counter rotating...i only noting this because you mentioned you neighbor has a matched motor off a bass boat, normally that would not be counter rotating...

Hmm. Yea I didn't think about that. It probably isn't likely that it is, and I'd say it's gonna be hard to find a 1980 200hp counter rotating motor. Might have to just go with a single 250 or 300, unless I can find a twin setup for cheap.
