I bid on it not thinking id get anywhere close to his reserve, but he lowered it twice. I still got out bid, maybe by a shill bid, I dont know. Now he 2nd chance offered it too me for my max bid of 5000. He didnt want to mess with a zero feedback bidder.

What do you guys think about this boat?

I think it's a good deal!! There are not alot of Spectras around. They look like mini offshore race boats. I had a Spectra 171 with a Merc 150Xr2 and the boat was a blast! With some setback they run very well and have higher freeboard than the Starflites! With 12" of setback and hyd. jackplate that boat will turn a Trophy Plus 26 at 70+ MPH all day long!! Buy it!!:thumb:

I like it, but I probably helped build it, so I'm slightly biased. For $5,000 you paid for a motor, the boat and the trailer are free. Not a lot of these out there. If the floor and the transom are solid, then thats a bonus too. We've seen younger boats than that needed full floor and transom replacement, and others older that needed nothing. I would tell him, that you need to inspect the boat in person, before you take that second chance offer.
And yeah, it was probably a schill, to see how high your max bid was.
 
I like the boat and its colors. I would like to see boat on its new trailer to verify fitment of bunks to hull as it looks like a welded trailer? versus the adjustable aluminum one. Why is there a removable cover at the bow or did it come that way. It looks like it has a little more freeboard in the design which i like.
 
Thanks. As do I. His add says that he can have the boat in Wake Forest, NC. Just a four hour ride from me, no way i would drive to NY. Still waiting for his response.

I hope this will put an end to the endless hours of internet surfing. I was getting ready to sell my car and get a cheaper one just so I could free up some boat money!
 
if you are like the rest of us you will still be surfing just for fun now.

Wow! don't think Ive ever seen a Spectra before and it looks exactly
like a Checkmate should, low fast and bad a$$.
I believe its a good buy, like Coop said, your moneys in the motor.
 
Seller is wanting a deposit. He is going to bring the boat down from NY to NC.

Would you guys send a deposit over paypal or no deposit at all. I really dont feel comfortable sending a 500 deposit after the last few boat buying experiences ive had.
 
I would only send as much money as I would feel comfortable throwing in the fireplace. That way if he stiffs you or the boat's a POS you won't be too upset when that money is gone.
 
I would go there. I went to get a boat one time and the seller had used the pics from when he bought it 7 yrs ago. Lets just say it did not look the same. Good luck . Looks like a nice mate at a real good price.
