89 Convincor GTX owners manual

It was just close...never was a issue...thats some pretty H/D hose they used...would like to see the cable release..no issue on the 251 with the scoop, not one on my 253, can get to one battery, hopefully that would be enough...

I tracted down the old thread they where posted in and there just red x's now. I deleted them from photobucket, so I will get some more in the next day or too when this monsoon stops were having.

Morning Guys,

Actually my 251 has a "built" 454 with a B&M blower, highpo heads, roller cam, Gill exhaust, new Bravo XR drive, 24 pitch - 3 blade, etc. Does about 82 with 6 lbs. on the boost guage, (on a good day) or so says the GPS. Want to try a 25 or 26 4 blade soon. I like the idea of moving the batteries under the hatch. Will wait to see the picks of cable latch. Do you guys have the auto fire extinguisher mounted in the engine bay as well? Previous owner removed that an I need to reinstall one.

I do not run auto fire system in my checkmates, do in the Gibson...not that is not a bad idea...just more weight....

I do have a suppression system.

EZ; I'm surprised you would put on all that viynal down the sides, cause of weight!
Just busting, the system is only a couple pounds and well worth it. I bet one could loose the weight themselves and then it would stiil be the same. I bet we all could lose 5#s:D

Vinyl's lighter than paint !!!! thats why all the race cars went to the wraps !! LOL we'll see on the fire suppression..after Brians deal you never know...what do they use now they outlawed halon ?

Used Halon is still available in some areas but the the automatic fire extinguishers use FE-241 (see below from Fireboy website). The boatel reqiures me to have one installed and i suppose it is worth the $230 if something does happen in the engine bay whether I'm around or not.

FE-241 (Chlorotetrafluoroethane) which is approved for unoccupied spaces such as engine rooms and is approved for use in the United States.

HFC-227ea (Heptafluoropropane) which is approved for occupied spaces and is approved for use in Europe.

Both are considered to be suitable Halon replacement agents under the EPA’s SNAP program. HFC-227ea is manufactured by DuPont as FE-227™ and by Great Lakes Chemical as FM-200®.
All Fireboy systems are approved by Factory Mutual, USCG, and Bureau Veritas. In addition, all systems containing HFC-227ea are approved to EN ISO 9094-1 and EN ISO 9094-2 Standards by Bureau Veritas, RINA, and Factory Mutual.

The cable runs down along the gunnel. You pull it and it releases the 'jaws' holding the bolt on the end of the rod.

Thanks for the pics Keith. Obviously a part made specifically for the application. Not something simple to make. What is that other red cable under the sun deck? I don't have that as well. Do you have subs in the cockpit and if so where are they located? I just viewed the pic of the maxxum 28 for sale and it looks like his are on the sides just under the bolsters.

Its the same cable. Thats where it goes in and then makes a loop around in the hatch to the release. Subs is a topic talked about alot here over and over! lol To each is own but imo there best put in the cabin.
