89 Starliner Factory Refirb

what a teaser shot! couldn't he have at least pulled the cover up to show you the colors you picked?!

can't wait to see what the lines of that motor look like with the sharp lines of the liner, i think it's going to look really good. congrats

What an incredible thread! Love it.

I've bought new motors twice to repower and loved it both times.
W/being able to pick all the colors on your new G2, I see that rig being in a future Evinrudes catalog.
It should really pop.

We were past the factory last weekend and saw the doors were open.
I guess I've missed the latest history.
What are they doing now?

Congrats on your decision on what to do w/the boat.
WAY cool dude!

Can't wait to see the final product.

BTW, looks like Evinrude blue to me 😎

Talked with Dean at the factory a couple days ago. We're nearing decision time as to whether "sand and polish" or "sand and clear". They took the two rear cooler lids off and are doing them up as test pieces...one each way. He'll make his professional recommendation based off the results. Sounds like they'll be giving it their full attention in a few weeks.

I know we sanded and cleared my Starflite and it turned out great. Really brought the flake back to life!!! As long as you go with a good quality clear that is flexible, it'll last a long time. And no more shoes on the deck!!! There is a reason that most of the high end boats are now being base/cleared instead of gel coated.

Don't know. When I told them now rush, I got...no rush. :) So...I'll update as more info comes available. I'm not worried, I have 5 months of snow and ice to get through.

Sam I think people here (including me) might potentially be more excited about your rebuild then you are. Not saying you're not excited, but I think seeing your results so we can ponder/dream getting our boats done is just killing us with anticipation. I can't wait to get mine done, but seeing how I just bought a second home/renovation project I don't think my wife is going to let me spend the money quite yet.

Just like everyone else, can't wait to see the finished product:D
