97 Convincor 220

Thanks Matt,

Not to boast but boat is truly nice. Purchased from one of my best friends and he pampered it. Always inside stored except when being used on flat freshwater lakes in Kentucky, Lake Cumberland and Green River Lake to be exact.Mercruiser big block with carb. I think it is 300 hp. All stock with 22 stainless prop. Not exactly what I was looking for but the known history, low hours and condition sold me. I am looking for input on best way to quiet down the through hull exhaust. Also looking for best location to mount a compass and marine radio/antenna. Also looking for factory owners manual. Any info regarding trim tab necessity on these hulls also appreciated.

Thanks Again:bigthumb:

Sounds like the same power as mine. I never use my tabs. I run a 23P on mine and it does well. I was thinking about jumping to a 24 to keep the cruising RPM down.

As for the sound, the EASIEST would be to install two small inline mufflers. I have no experience with them but they looks to be way less money than a silent choice system.

I had a 220 as my last boat. ran great. had a 454 mag mpi with a 25p mirage and it ran right @ 69 on gps. that one should run pretty good too. I can probably count on one hand how many times i used my tabs. solid runner. handles choppy water better than most boats it's size. good pick up. Looks great!!!

Went on the maiden Lake Erie voyage today. Went from West Harbor to Kellys Island.:bigthumb: Quite a bit quicker and noisier than my old 22' Sea Ray! Met some Baja folks back at the marina from Bucyrus. They spoke highly of Checkmate and also of Kip Combs. May try it again tomorrow.
