Another new one

Stinger, that was a nice score. Congrats and good luck.

I like to boat on the St. Lawrence in the 1000 Island region.
I would love to live up there, but it is too dam cold in the winter.
I live at the Jersey shore and really hate salt water.

Yes, a short season but the scenery is just beautiful.

Boating on 1000 Islands

JT We also boat on the 1000 Islands it is about an hour and a half to get there by water, but since we just sold our 30 footer I dont think we would try it with the Check LOL. We will be going up there at the end of this month as we all ways do but will trailer great time  I know what you mean by the winters we live in the snow belt the year before we were on the news all over for getting almost 10 I said 10 foot of snow in a 2 day period. So talk about short summers. That is why we try to get out boating as much as we can. Winters are very long for us. But I dont think I would have been here this long if we didnt like it :brickwall: If you ever get up to the Islands give me a jingle might try to hook up. Thanks for the Comment. Love the boat

I am going up July 30th thru Aug 9th. I go for the Antique Boat Show and Auction every year. I stay at a motel in A Bay for 2 days then I rent a house on Wellesley Island for one week. I spent my summers on Wellesley Island as a kid from age 9 to 18 when I went into the Coast Guard. I figured I could get stationed there. That didn't work out.

If you do get up into that area in the first week of August let me know and I will give you my cell #. :bigthumb:

Stinger,

Correct me if I am wrong. Did you mention the you are from the Rochester
area and it takes you 1-1/2 hours to boat up to the St Lawerence?
What kind of fuel are you using? LOL :poke:

When I was in high school I dated a girl from the Irondiquois section of Rochester for 3 years. Dam that was a long time ago. Now that makes me feel old. :(

Jim

Hello Jim, I am east of Sodus bay closer to Oswego that is why it doesnt take as long if it was Rochester than tack on some about an 1 1/2 more. We would go to Oswego and head north to Galloo Island near Sacketts Harbor than straight into A-Bay. You said you rent a place on Wellesley Island by any chance do you know the Wallenhorst family I think they own most of the Island LOL. As a kid I also spent time there also. I just found out we will get there on the 9th of Aug. The girls want to stay over in Sacketts Harbor on the 8th:pissed: for dinner and stay the nite, so it will be one less day in A-bay. The last couple years we been staying at the Boardwalk cheaper than Rivers Edge and Bonnie. Lot of money to just sleep there. Oh years ago I use to go to Irondequoit H.S myself long time ago also:sssh: Are you sure about the boat show I thought it is the 16 th to the 18 th this year? You will be there for Pirates week Very Good time  also. You can always go to Clatyon to the boat museum lot of nice woodys. If our plans change I will give you a shout and let you know. Have fun:cheers:

I used to know the Wallenhurst family. They bought the property that George and Tess Mack owned. My family rented from them for over 10 years. We had the opportunity to buy the cabin next to theirs but my father turned it down. Tom Primes family bought it. I was depressed when I found out my dad turned it down. The penninsula has been over built since Wallenhursts bought most of the property. They do own a decent size piece of property.

When we use a motel we stay at the Otter Creek Inn on Crossman Street
Extension right next to the boat ramp. Very clean and very reasonably priced. I tried the Boardwalk once 4 years ago and checked out right away. I found it to be a dump and their prices weren't that good.

The Antique Boat Show is always the first weekend of August. The Antique Boat races are the third weekend when you will be there.

Wow, small world.

You arrive the day we leave.

Jim

Wow it is a small world. Who knows I might of meet you when I was there. Good times. Maybe next time we will get to meet I realy dont care when we go to the islands.

Did you stay at the Mack's cottages? We went there the 2nd and 3rd weeks of August from 1959 to 1968.

Iam kinda related to the Wallenhorst's Rita sister is my Godmother so over the years I grew up with Mike, Jim and Rick. Back then we use to play war with BB guns shooting each other DAM that hurt and left some good marks. We pretty much ran all over the Island got hurt and in trouble LOL. Wow old memories when we were older we wold hang out in front of the Duty free shop distract the guy inside while one of us grabed a carton of smokes:sick: I guess you could say we were TROUBLE:sssh: Even though we were young at the time we turned out pretty good. No one went to prison so I think it was just part of groing up? :rof:

We used to climb up the rock slide on the other side of the road
before they put I-81 to customs. Then we would start a rock slide.

When Mr. Mack would find out he would chew are asses out.

The god ole days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The world is getting smaller.
