Any MX-13 owners out there?

I have just completely restored a 73 mx 13. I wanted to see more of these boats. How many are left out there? I will be posting pics of my boat soon hopefully. New transom, floor, gelcoated interior and new paint on outside. I was wondering if any one has ever ran a 140 Johnson on one of these boats? It is my intent to run my 78 140 on it. I built it strong so maybe shee'll hold.

i'm pretty sure that it would sink it. that motor weighs like 380 i think. thats a nice boat though. i had a mx-13 with a 40 merc and it did 40mph. i wish i had some pics though. my father bought me it when i was 9yrs old.
the thing is with the smaller hulls, they can only go so fast so putting a huge motor on it wouldnt be that efficiant. my advice would to get an 88spl or a 70 merc. you should get mid 50's with that set up

cant really get much faster than that

my mx-15 is very similar and I run a 78 140 on it. My 140 weighs in at about 305 lbs and pumps out a real prop HP of about 115-120. Makes my boat hit 54mph on GPS with low fuel and only 2 people in it, 21P prop turning 5600 RPM on a jackplate.

1973 MX-13

I was looking at a brochure for 1973 models...and my boat doesn't look exactly like the picture in the brochure.

Is it safe to assume that the last 4 numbers on the HIN is the year it was made??
