Any OMC V8 owners?

they eat lower units like there free! i had a customer with 3 on the back of 38 stuphen and always had 2 spares, he blew lowers every weekend. finally removed them and installed a couple of sterndrives.

Parts are starting to be hard to come by. Other than that they are big and heavy. Ibelieve you can convert it over to a merc case but it'll cost ya, OMC always had weak lowers.

My best boat buddy...,ha! that sounds funny huh?,..anyway he's got an old 1980 18 foot Formula with a built 350 and an OMC 800, ya know one of the old white ones!, and never has any trouble! Imagine that. He's also got a 1987 IMP Elaganza w/twin 350's and OMC drives and has no problems...but I still wouldn't own one................IF IT AIN'T BLACK, SEND IT BACK!

The OMC is only 20 pounds heavier than the 300x. I have my fingers crossed about the gear case though. Not sure if its stock or what but it has a nosecone on it.
The thing sounds like a car.

if the gearcase does happen to be a problem..these are the guys id recommend for switching to a merc....they have a mid that adapts omc to merc lower...looks as though the switch is a lil pricey, ive seen some of their mids for sale on e-bay before, so if you got lucky that coulda save some.
