Anyone running a Yamaha Pro v

I just bought a 1985 checkmate enticer with a yamaha 150 prov j outboard i took it out the other day to see if it floats and it did great i have a 21p prop on now and was wondering what you all though about going with a 23p or even a 26p on that motor, My RPM's were in the 5000 to 5750 with that prop and wanted a little more speed  ! what is the biggest prop i could put on? and what should i look for and or be careful of? Oh and what is better a 3 or 4 blade?

I had a Pro-V 150 and am now running a Pro-V 200, GOOD motors. The size of the prop depends on the the RPM range, sounds like you would be safe to try a 23P, much bigger will probably be too much but each props acts diffrently. The good thing is Merc props fit on a Yamaha so its easy to find props to try. I'v run both 3 & 4 blades, 3 blades usually are a little faster were as 4 blades often have better hole shot and midrange power.

That's a pretty wide RPM range you posted there Stroker. You need to get a "solid" reading at "Wide Open" (hehe) throttle. If memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does), that engine likes to run at about 5500. If you're really able to run your current prop at 5700-5800, go ahead and try a 23"P. Any bigger will probably just kill it though.
F150GT gave you the basics as far as comparison between a 3 and 4 blade. I don't know how your particular hull will respond, but Mercury's "Tempest"(3 blade) and "Trophy" (4 blade) props are some good ones. And as mentioned above, they'll fit your engine just like it is. Just make sure you don't need to use a different thrust washer.

my enticer has a 140hp rude on it and i am running a 24" Turbo 4 blade
the four blade is more fun in my opinion you cant get em to break loose,
i have a 26p laser 2 and that prop is very fast
No gps, but it slips alot, getting on plane is a little tricky and the mid range is not that exciting, It doesnt feel like it wants to hook up until about 4500 rpm
from then on its very fast, i can take that all the way to 6200rpm but theirs alot of slip. i want to get an odd number like a 25 laser 2 because they have the bigger hub.

23-24 pitch would be a good place to start.
