Anyone using a HotFoot?

Anyone here using a HotFoot gas pedal or similar setup? What's the deal? Are they nice/useful or just novelty/crap?

They are primarily a safety issue for boats running 60+ when chinewalking starts to become a problem it lets you keep 2 hands on the wheel. On smaller boats where it's not neccasarily needed it's just owners pref. They can be a pain when docking or cruising as you have to be seated unles you run a land and sea dual action which still allows you to use your standard throttle also.

Ok cool. More stupid questions from me... What is "chinewalking" and is there a link somewhere to the land and see model?

I have a land and sea dual action and love it.I've had it apx. 10 years now.I wounldn't have a single action thou. The dual action allows some freedom of not being trapped in your seat when putting around or for some other reason.

You need to have wheel mounted trim buttons or your defeating the purpose for having one, to keep both hands on the wheel.

When I run hard in bigger water say 65+ mph(245 hp) in1-2 footers its a must. But thats me! But during labor day weekend I had 6 girls to pull tubing around the lake (1000 times)and having the foot throttle was real nice because of having 2 hands to turn the wheel to and fro while appling just right amount gas thus giving out perfect tube rides.:surf:

I'd truely be lost without it:yell:

Plus its KOOL when pullaway from the beach with both hands on the wheel.

The only stupid question is the unasked one. Chinewalking is when the boat want to fall off the pad(if you have one) or when the hull starts to rock side to side. It usually starts around the 60 mph mark some of us will say to learn to drive through it when in actuality you cannot you can only learn to control it and the only way to do that is with seat time. Eventually you will start to feel it before it happens and correct it with slight smooth movements of the wheel not short choppy ones.

i wouldnt even think of running my boat without a hot foot. i look like one of the duke boys at times the way my hands are back and forth with the wheel. :rof:

Have on and love it. I had to install it on the left side due to mounting restrictions. But other than that it keeps your hands on the wheel and allows you to make throttle corrections faster that the controller will. A big plus when running fast.
