Glad to see them there, I still think its a kick in the pants to go back to vinyl. BTW this vent cover was plastic, AND a different color, but when I brightened up the picture in photoshop so you could see it then it matched better.

Hold on, that boat is all vinyl? I was under the impression and Founatin said they were to be painted. Such a shame if that is the case. Vinyl, really?

This one has a wrap on it. You can just make out the texture look to it, I kind of liked the look of that. What you can't see is the Baja on the side, with a really BIG by Fountain after that.

Happy to lurk around and post when necessary. We are now kinda like family.
Yeah pretty much! The way things are going, who knows how many brands will be left before long.

At the end of the day, we all share the common interest and passion for boating - and to me at least that's the main thing. :thumb:

Chris you are so right now so many companies are failing and closeing the doors we should support them both for doing what is needed to survive till this crunch is over. Always remember nothing stays the same. All we can do is hope this will change both co. for the better. Tough times call for drastic measures. Time will tell there may be some fine Boats come out of this on both sides. :bigthumb:

Well at this point, everyone is pissed off!

Many of the Baja guys are mad, as first they had to deal with being bought by Fountain, and now they've got to deal with Checkmate building these "Beckmates"!

And...

Many of our guys are ticked off, cause they feel we're now abandoning our Checkmate roots by building "BeckMates".

What's next?

Mercury building white motah's and 'Rude building black ones? :D

See, I'll bet you guys now miss the good ol' days when Baja vs Checkmate was like the Hatfield's and the McCoys! Shame the kids had to start dating each other and get married.

It's all incestuous now! :rof:

well has anyone noticed Fountain builds Baja, Baja builds checkmates, checkmates build Baja's its a crazy building circle. Its almost like inbreeding and creating retarted offspring:sick:

same crap thats is/ has gone on in the auto industry ! ! i'm a jeep fanatic too ,AMC/JEEP, then as it was chrysler jeep in 87 the cj got all f#@kd up as a wrongler w squre headlights ! it come around now . til this new mess gets straightened out ! my ramble on point its all relative , and its just business !

I wish there was more room around these boat to get better pictures.

Whats up with the big rail??

2009MiamiBoatshowpics%20026a.jpg

they used to have those rails.....my buddys 88 220sport has the same rail down the middle of it....maybe getting back to their roots like doug is doing with checkmate?

Here is the Sea Ray Pachanga, I like the red, but would have rather seen the Hammer X at the show.

2009MiamiBoatshowpics%20022a.jpg

Imagine, no Hammer X.

Not sure if they are sticking to the original plan, but the 1st 100 or so Pachangas are supposed to be red for the 50th anniv.

Did you happen to see the price tag on this?

You gotta wonder if Sea Ray will keep building these with the liner in them. Its the same liner that was used in the Hammer X, which actually held up pretty well.

Let me clarify. The MEMBERS of TEAMBAJAMARINE.COM were never "mad" at Fountain for getting Baja. Dissapointed in Brunswick for abandoning the Baja brand yes. But we all were pretty much positive and supportive when this all went down. I even was interviewed and made print for HOTBOAT regarding and it was nothing but positive coming out of my mouth. Hey, I dont really care who builds the boat as long as it it consitent withe the original design and engineering. Please dont confuse US with another site where a certain "Pied Piper" posted nothing but negativity regarding this "transaction" abd have everyone following along. in that negativity.

As far as Checkmate and the H2X, once again, there is no real issue with us, THE BAJA OWNERS, we are just chatting in our forum. You Checkmate guys are the ones that have to "take it on the chin" as Checkmate "aquired" a Baja mold and did nothing in the way of changing it to reflect Checkmate's long standing look, design and what makes Checkmate's original. Hell, I would of tried old school, one color metalflake paint and a big Checkmate logo down the side to give it some originality. Once again, I could care less who builds the H2X, it is a solid Baja proven boat and it is a compliment Checkmate thought so highly of it to re-produce it as it stands with no changes. For me, I say its flattering. The H2X lives on courtesy of Checkmate, its your baby now.

Hi Blake,

When I posted "Baja guys"...

I didn't really mean just people on your site per se, just Baja fans in general. And I should have really said "some Baja guys".

I realize not all Baja fanatics are ticked off, conversely, neither are all Checkmate fans - just some.

Then again, not all are happy about these developments either.

I think if I was a Baja follower, I more than likely would have been pleased to have seen Fountain buy Baja. Of course with any change in life, you have to reserve final judgement until the results are in, and all is said and done. :)
