Best prop for '87 Johnson 200STLCUA with SEI 90-306B lower?!

Had to go with the SEI 306 lower unit, which requires a '91-up thrust washer change. Old OMC 4 blade Shooter prop doesn't fit (431718, 13-1/4 x 25PP). With old lower unit I could run 55 MPH at 5600 RPM. I did take the '91 thrust washer and machined it to fit the old prop, but it still sits back too far on the shaft (has about 1/3" of space between the prop and the housing). I can mount the prop, but it won't holeshot worth a **** and it just wants to cavitate. Do I order a '91-up prop, and if so, what is available that is comparable to the old Shooter prop?

:brickwall:

To simplify: OMC changed the prop shaft in '91. Everything I have read states that the props are identical for pre and post-91; the only thing that changed was the thrust washer.

I cry "foul" on this. Michigan Wheel, Solas, etc all have different package numbers for pre and post-91 cases. I'm betting the hubs are different in addition to the thrust washers. I say this with confidence because my pre-91 OMC Shooter is NEVER going to fit on the post-91 shaft with EITHER of the thrust washers. I even machined the post-91 thrust washer to engage the lip of the prop correctly and I still don't have enough of the spline to engage the washer at the aft end. If I mount the prop without ANY thrust washer, I have the correct spacing (I would never run w/o a thrust washer).

Can anyone add anything to my findings?
