best prop for Convincor 270

checkmate 270

New member
I would like to know what would be the best prop for my 2007 Convincor 270 with 496 mag. 375 hp.. I have a 24 p 3 blade just to get some hours on the boat. When time comes I would like to purchase a prop that would get the max speed out of the boat. Any ideas let me know.

Thanks :thumb:

They told me once I get about 10 hours on the motor I could open it up to see the max rpm for that prop. I understand that the max rpm range is 4800 rpms. I am not sure what the existing prop will run at this moment. I only have about 6.5 hours on the motor. At about 4000 rpms the boat reads around 58 mph with no one else in the boat. Several friends of mine that have a convincor 270 with the 496 HO motor and they use a 4 blade 24 pitch prop. They seem to think this would need to have a 22 or 23 pitch 4 blade prop with only having 375 hp. Any info let me know....

Thanks

In my opinion, your best bet would be to run the prop you have to get some data. I am sure that prop will be close enough to run well. I would say that a labbed 24" 4 blade Bravo 1 may work best. Run what you have, then post some numbers.

My last boat was a 270….

I would think you’re going to need a 24” Bravo or a 22” Hydro 4-blade. You’re top speed is going to be about 62-63….With a 496HO you should be able to spin a 26” Bravo or 24” Hydro 4-blade up to about 70.

My 270 actually had 1.65 gears (496HO) and I ran a 28” Bravo or a 26” Hydro up to 5100, and would get 70-72 on gps consistanly.

I tried a 4 blade bravo 1 24 pitch and can run it 64.9 gps with the 4900 rpms. I don't think I can get much better than this and I think my rpm gauge may be off a little.:bigthumb:
