Bilge thru hull fitting

I found an aluminium one I would like to put in. Anyone know what size the original hole is? Its cold here in Toledo and cant get out to tear it apart. The one I found takes a 1 inch hole. Didnt want to get and have it be to small. Is it a pain in the ass to get your arm back there behind or over that foam box to un/reinstall? I pulled the fuel tank the one decent day we had and kinda checked it out. Replaced the bilge pump. Found 17 cents (1 dime and 7 pennies), Two stainless wing nuts (battery + & -) and a button to a shirt. Other than that seems to be in pretty good shape back there.
