Binding shifter! Need help asap

Ok I'm at the end of my cool with my senator. When I had it out the first time this year it had a problem shifting in and out of gear stalling and binding. Was told the lower shift cable was original and needed to be replaced. When you took it off and pushed it in and out it was tight and hard. I check adjustments and happen again.
Fast forward

Last night I finished replacing the lower shift cable all new and bellows and gimbal and hose etc. Everything back there is new and new shift cable off moves in and out free and nice. So hook it up to the linkage on the motor and adjust both the right way like the book says with someone making sure it's on gear down bellow. Take it out and instantly same issue binding. So I mess with t on the water and it gets worse. It's binds so bad inbetween gears you have to pull as hard as you can to get it free then it stays in that gear in neutral until you go to the next gear then back in neutral.

What can it be I just want to beable to use the boat safely and right I can't even get off the water with out wrecking something. Even if you disconnect the control shifter the cable seems fine. But when it binds and breaks free you can hear it in the cables.

Help.

Is it the control cable even tho it seems ok?

Is it the control unit?

Can it be the linkage on the motor? But looks to be new

Make sure your shift interrupt switch is working properly also. With motor running, manually activating the switch on the shift bracket should kill the engine when pushed.

When installing the new cable into the bellhousing, not tightening the cable enough can cause stalling issues too. The nut on the cable ends needs to be almost bottomed out in the aluminum threads (sometimes requiring a pipe tap the enlarge the hole slightly)

Remove the control cable from the shift bracket on the motor and manually push the lever and see if still binding and stalling to eliminate an issue with control cable. Control cables can sometimes be deceiving because they feel free and move nicely when not hooked up, but when hooked up can become stiff

Thanks ya control unhooked it is free and when I installed it the cable was tighten down. As for the kill switch it works if u do it with your hand but you can see the braket does not push enough to hit it. Is there any adjustment in the kill switch.

Fixed the problem after rebuilding everything I couldn't figure it out. Took it to local marine for only hours charge and they knew what it was. The micro switch for the engine cut off was not working right so it was drift shifting because I was manually pulling it out of gear while under pressure. Tested it other night works like new. Time to enjoy for now.
