Boat Ad DO's/DON'Ts.....

This one's pretty nice.

Is that the wiring harness lying there with the leaves? 21. Always park vessel under nastyest tree you can find. 22. When pulling vessel and trailer from ground that it has been mired in for the last 36 months, make sure tow chain pulls trailer wiring loose, don't forget to bend up trailer jack at the same time, ripping it clean off is a bonus. 23. Broken tail lights are awsome. 24. Weather checked tires deserve a close up. 25. Break a couple of lugs from the hubs and make sure the bearing buddies are conspicuously absent. 26. Broken or missing hardware from the trailer will surely impress potential buyers. 27. Bent axles are always a nice touch.(just hook tow chain to axle instead of trailer jack) 28. Rusty cable should be installed in the winch and should be frayed enough so that it is rubbing on the fiberglass around the bow loop. 28. Winch handle should be missing or at the very least, all bent up, Vise-Grip pliers in place of handle on winch is a nice touch. 29. Make sure to spell winch as wench. 30. Make certain that hitch is missing safety chains and ball lock, wiring plug end too.

Another one,
When the boat is sold take down the ad. I remember calling on many boats that where sold already and for long peroids of time.

Also be sure to mention all the hundreds of skanks you've had in the
stabin cabin so the potential buyer will instantly believe this is going to
happen for him because the boat is so cool.

31. Make sure you photograph young child with pogo stick, missing rubber on bottom, standing atop vessel. If child is not available, use a cat or dog, make sure they are pictured inside the vessel so that buyers know that the critter has easy access to vessel interior. 32. Fast food wrappers, beer cans either crushed or whole, wadded up diapers, and extremely used bathing wear can be stuffed into nooks and crannies of the interior for that 'special' shot. 33. Personal floatation devices left over from the Titanic Disaster make a nice addition to any interior shot. 34. By all means, remove a gauge or two from the dash. Nobody really monitors the temperature or fuel level do they? 35. If you must have all gauges installed in the dash, make sure they don't match. 36. Do not tidy up vessel wiring, in particular, photograph of battery should show close up of approximatly 26 wires spliced onto battery posts without any short circuit or overload protection present. A pair of Vise-Grip pliers used to attach battery cable to battery post is 'Gleamin'( ie, nice, beautiful, awesome ). 37. Battery boxes and /or hold downs are for cars and trucks and should not show up in any boat pictures. 38. If the front seats flew out during the last flip, just install a fold up camp chair or for the ultra luxurious, that favorite 'lazy boy' recliner. 39. Now if the interior upholstery has seen some better days, wander out to the picnic table and grab up the tablecloth, it'll give the interior a fresh cheery look. 40. When making statements concerning vessel horsepower or speed, just add a couple of zeros. If making statement concerning vessel weight, especially post transom or stringer/ floor replacement, remember to subtract zeros.

You know, when I was off work I made a lot of money, buying boats and simply cleaning them up, taking better pictures, and placing better adds.

My dogs still have several rubber dock fenders that I pulled out of boats to get rid of clutter. They make great toss toys.

Found a snow shovel in a boat once, cut down into the shape of a paddle.

Here's another example of how not do advertise your boat. At least he did give some pictures but phrases like, It ran the last time it was started and It ran great don't help the cause.

Also, if you're gonna be a douche who reposts his boat (or any item) on CL every day or on several different CL locales at least make sure your pricing is consistent. There's several boats around here posted simultaneously for different prices and some are several thousand dollars different from one ad to another. The fine Throw Hole Checkmate many of you are familiar with is listed back to back on my local CL for two different prices.

I'm so tired of the "no title" crap, if your required to have a title in that state, then go get one. Usually if you don't have it, then I can't get it.

No title to me usually reads "didn't acquire through legal sale"
If you lost the title thats a quick trip to the local BMV to order a replacement title.

Yeah dude. The throw hole senator is listed at three different prices,6000.00 and 5700.00 and 5000.00 depends on locality. I guess that where you live determines the price. sought of like buying a house. :rof:

"clean" really? did you wash the plants growing out of the floor too?
