New member
HEY GUYS, QUICK QUESTION ON A BOAT TITLE, MY BROTHER HAS THIS 21 FT PENN YAN THAT WAS GIVEN TO HIM. NO TITLE ,ITS AN 1986 NEEDED A MOTOR AND ALL. ITS ALL FIXED NOW AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING IT REGISTERD WITHOUT A TITLE. THATS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN MA. WE CAN READ THE LAST REG # ON THE HULL. HE DOSENT HAVE A PROBLEM PAYING SOMEONE TO GET A TITLE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.:thumb:

I know in Texas, getting a boat title can be difficult if you do not have the previous owner sign the title over. I suggest contacting the previous owner to see if they have the title and if they are willing to sign it over. You may have to apply for a duplicate title. In the interim you should be able to register the vessel and use it until the other paperwork gets done.
In Texas, Mr Smith cannot go and purchase Mr Jones registration stickers without a form signed by Mr Smith allowing Mr Jones to conduct business regarding the vessel in his behalf.
If do not know the previous owner of the boat, take the old registration numbers down to the registration authority, pay a few bucks and get the information, then contact the owner and try step 1 above.
If that doesn't work, research what it will take to get a storage/mechanics lean against the vessel in your state and follow that process.
Good luck on your venture, let us know how it turns out. He really needs to get the title in his name, will make life so much easier.

HEY GUYS, THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK. I THINK WE HAVE THIS THING SOLVED . HEARD FROM A GUY TODAY WITH THE SAME SITUATION, HE BOUGHT A 37FT SAIL BOAT WITHOUT A TITLE AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO LIFE AFTER 8 YEARS OF WORK. AND THE SAME THING HAPPEND TO HIM. HE SHARED HIS INFO. I THINK WE ARE ALL SET NOW. DONT GET ME WRONG ON THIS WHOLE TITLE THING I UNDERSTAND THE REASONS , LIKE IF SOMEONE STOLE MY BOAT. BUT WHEN YOU ASK THE REGISTRY FOR THE PREVIOS OWNER BUY WAY OF THE LAST REG # AND THEY WILL NOT EVEN OFFER A HAND TO DIRECT YOU TO THE PRVIOS OWNER SO THAT YOU CAN ASK HIM TO APPLY FOR A LOST TITLE ON YOUR DIME IT BECOMES AGGRIVATING TO SAY THE LEAST. IST ALMOST LIKE THE FORCE YOU TO DO SOMTHING ILLEGAL. THANKS AGAIN :bigthumb:

Good luck been their done that and will never go their again. Your first mistake was fixing the boat before having correct paper work. :bigthumb:
