BOATING Magazine Shootout

November issue of BOATING has sport boat shootout,230ZT is listed & only big complaint is carpet in engine compartment? Going against Donzi,Advantage & Eliminator.Great that finally everyone is noticing how GREAT Checkmates are!!!! :thumb:

thats great to hear! i'm going to check and see i don't think we have carpet in ours, i'll take a pic and send it to chris! :rof:

Carpet in the engine compartment?I doubt it,must have been a mistake.I cant believe checkmate would run carpet back in the engine compartment, but anythings possible when your dealing with employees.

I guess it's a way to "dress it up"... So manufactures uses gel coat, some aluminum diamond plate, etc. I've also had several boats with carpet in the engine compartment... Several in the past, but most recently, my Larson Jet has it because each side of the motor is storage (netted off from motor)... My Warlock offshore had it up the sides (for looks or maybe noise surpression)? In either case, I guess it's a preference thing... I prefere something easily washable myself! Carpet holds moisture, oil, dirt, dust, etc... all of which we care not to expose the motor to. Jim.
