Does a bow cover on a 21 BR do anything for speed? Has anyone ran with one and with out to see if it made any difference? Trying to find out if it helps and how much it helps. Skip

Skip, a bow cover absolutely makes a difference in top end speed. You can pick up anywhere from 2-4 mph. There is alot of turbulance with the airflow coming through the bow section. The verticle front seat backs creat alot of drag also. Just think of putting your hand out the window of a car going 60 mph. I gained 3 mph on my old Spectra 170 Bowrider/Merc 150 Xr2 when I installed the bow cover.

I went from a 6" setback jack plate to a 10" and added a factory bow cover to my Pulsare and went from 68 mph GPS to 74 mpg GPS. I'm sure most of that was the bow cover, a little gain from the extra 4" of setback.

I gained 2mph on the Trimate

I'm sure it would be relative to how fast you are already going. I would guess that a 70 mph boat would benefit more than a 50 mph boat. Just a guess though.
