Came across a cool looking boat. Wondering if you guys know anything about Hydrostream. Looks like it was built for speed. Has a Merc motor hangin on the back with a jackplate. Think its a 2.4, motor looks good. Boat has been sitting for quite some time by the looks of it. Seems lightly built to me. Going to fire it this week. Has some cracking and crazing here and there on the hull. What do ya think? Are they good or something to stay away from?

They are fast azz death boats. IMO The chine walk on them can be crazy, if your not scared to let it hang out. I recall hearing they can be pretty bad with rot and coming apart.

Streams are cool and can be really fast but really sketchy. Go look on Scream and Fly for info. There is a Hydrostream only site too.

Yes, Scream and Fly has a lot of HydroStream info, but they are known for having core issues. Beware if the core hasn't been replaced.

I know quite a bit about Hydrostreams. Shoot me a pm if you have any direct questions. You can also find alot of Hydrostream history on:

hydrostream.org or hydrostreamforums.com

I love Hydros, especially the VKings. Second choice for me in a lakeboat after Checkmates. Fast, sexy boats with class and great lines. Unfortunately their build quality is less than Check standards which necessitates even greater maintenance and rebuild regarding rot issues.
Growing up on White Lake, NY there was a Hydro Vking which we had dubbed "The Monster". I lusted after that boat with it's 250 the way it would scream around the lake throwing the most awesome rooster tale.
One day we were out and saw him hit it from a deadstop. This is the only time in my life that I've seen a prop out-accelerate a boat- He hit it and the boat just did a flip. I didn't know it was possible for an engine to accelerate so hard that it could just flip a boat over on itself.
I can still picture it as it happened even though it's been 25-30 years.
Only other boat I can think of that might be able to do that would be an overpowered STV.
That's another VE-hicle I'd love to get my paws on. An STV. River racer.
