Checkmate Auction

Alrighty Gang,

We're having our very own auction of sorts. Up for bids is none other than a 1968 Checkmate V-161 Custom. The boat is being auctioned off by Lake & Trail marine and they are located in Perth, Ontario. Because we're not Ebay, we're depending on the goodwill and honesty of bidders to honour their bids. Just a heads up in case you don't. We'll not only stop talking to you, we'll also locate your boat and put Baja decals over your Checkmate ones.

Any questions regarding the details of this boat can be posted in this thread, or you can contact Dave Y. from Lake and Trail who will respond.

Boat Details

-1968 V-161
-No motor included
-No trailer included, but you can talk to Dave who might be able to arrange something for at extra cost.
-Boat needs restoration.

Bidding starts at $100.00 U.S. Please bid in increments of $25.00 U.S. Bidding will end when it becomes obvious we have the highest bid.

Good luck and Happy Bidding.

Here is what the boat more or less should look like in its vintage state like this pic taken back in '68 or so. Please note this boat is not the brochure boat as far as we're aware.

So how are we supposed to know when the auction is over? Do we have an ending date or are we just playing this by ear? Like are you going to do a last call to say "Anyone else want the boat?"

i'm thinking near the end of the month, if anyone wants more pictures of it just tell me and i'll go and take some. Happy Bidding guys!

Don't worry, we'll do a going, going, going... That's how "real" actions work. If someone then bids, we'll do it again. It's not the Ebay way, but it's the way most auctions work. Do you ever watch the auctions for cars? Do they say the bidding ends at 3:00 P.M.? The bidding ends when the highest bid the seller is going to receive is obtained. Then the boat will be sold!
