Good News for all the employes of Checkmate ..![]()
That my friends is what is most important here. Besides, dedicated people who care about what they do are allways a big asset to whatever company they work for.

Good News for all the employes of Checkmate ..![]()
Oh man, I hate to jump the gun here, but to me this is the best news ever
If my new boat in 2015 wasn't gonna be a Checkmate, then it was gonna be a 29 Rocket with a heart pounding Ilmor.
The marriage between these two great performance boat companies AND the fellas at Checkmate gettin back in the game......WOW there's gonna be some of the coolest performance boats ever made coming up in the near future.
It's great to see nobody here sayin anything bad about the Hustler brand..
I would challenge anyone to take one for a ride {or at least get a ride in one} ---- BIG TIME performance and quality.
Long Live Checkmate Boats and lets welcome the new partnership with open arms.
Does this increase the possibility of producing smaller boats? Is there no longer a demand for 16', 15', or smaller? Would love to see a Predictor or MX type throwback. Very excited that the company is going to remain. Long live Checkmate!
I myself would love to see some of the older hulls brought back with todays standards . We have seen some beautiful restorations on this forum of the predictor -Mx's and so on . Every one adds there own personal touch and with all the things out on todays market can really dress up there boat . So that gives you a idea of what could be done . If Checkmate was start building like that again with METAL FLAKE people would go crazy .... Just my opinion ....
With the Coast Guard regs for hulls under 20' that are mfg'd in mass it is difficult to produce them at a reasonable price these days. They may not be priced for the average joe to buy.
Come august i may have the boat for you !!!Is it impossible to produce a new boat at 20-25k that a young man or woman could purchase or finance without giving up on their other dreams and pursuits? I think this is where the aforementioned used market has been gouging into boat sales. The price undercuts new boats by a TON and the options are better. As a young boater myself, I do not desire a boat longer than 16'. Give me a cool boat that seats 4 or 5, has a Mercury 60 EFI FormulaRace, a gas tank, a throttle, gauges, and metalflake!!! Then options galore after that. That's value to me and would draw me to a dealership.
Sorry for my enthusiasm. Pie in the sky but it's nice to speculate and give opinions!
and what if the name checkmate is cut out of the market?
there is a chance they need the boat building capacity of checkmate factory to build further on smaller hustlers?
money can have strange turns......
everybody happy, but not the die hard checkmate owners...
Come august i may have the boat for you !!!
As far as boat pricing goes the power is going to run you $15-20K before you even get to the boat. And believe me at $20k in a new boat these days forget it !!! They are cookie cutter all the way. At least with checkmate you have the family type BR's for mom and the speed for dad.
If you look at Hustlers line, there niche is really 30' and larger. Checkmate can fill many holes in the east and west coast markets with the smaller OB models. Dont forget the international dealer network of hustler will now be open to checkmates. That can be a big deal since the brand is known globally.
