CHECKMATE OWNERS RALLY 2012

Looks like a great time was had, really wished i could have made it. Got to meet Brian and his crew at the Thunder run a few weeks ago and chat with them for a few. I will def be there for the big run in a few weeks, if anybody meets up. Have a safe summer and keep hammered down!

I just wanted to give a word of thanks to Brian for organizing the gathering and also best regards to all of the attendees. We made a 7 hour trek to get there and enjoyed every minute. We hopefully made not only some acquaintances, but lasting friendships. As I have said, I bought my first Checkmate in 1977 and have owned a number of them throughout the years and although we did not have a large number of boats, we had enough, and we had variety. We displayed the uniqueness of Checkmate boats. Other boat makers may have larger faster boats, and others may have smaller faster boats, but no other manufacturer has produced the diverse styles, sizes, and quality while maintaining performance over the years as Checkmate has done. It was a pleasure to spend time with a group that shared a common interest and I want to thank everyone for their hospitality. In spite of the rain, the gathering did accomplish everything it was intended to do but one, putting together a variety of boats, and a variety of people having a great time sharing a common interest without issue. Our one failure was that we did not get Will’s dad to “Harmon Creek” party cove.

Considering the weather, it looks like you guys had a fantastic turnout.

I have organized a few trips with friends and family and it always proves to be a royal PITA. Even with people you "know", you never really know who is gonna show until the day of the event.

I think every Checkmate Event has had a good turn out considering you don't really know eachother and you also have people driving several hours to get there. Factor in the variable called weather and it is amazing that anyone makes it!

Glad you all had fun. We were represented by some beautiful boats that is for sure.

Question, who would bring a SB to a Checkmate Event!?! Was he able to keep up?:rof:

Down at the rally I ran a best of 89 on gps loaded up with a big cooler in the nose and running tabs slightly negative. I really need to do somthing with the drive.. its got alot more left in it, but ain't gonna get there till I cone or swap lowers.

I didn't really go for all out speed at any point, and to be honest I don't think I was wearing a vest when I hit that speed while I was there... didn't really feel like I was pushing the limits at all- water was pretty smooth and easy to read. Actually suprised myself when I hit the recall on the speedo.
