**Checkmate Resumes Production**

Hustler is going to regret the move of retaining the services of Doug. Kick his a** out the front door & tell him to take the Baja molds with him so he can make a house/shelter for himself & daughter.

Can always go onto Hustlers FB page & voice your displeasure about keeping D.S on board. If I was Randy I would be lighting up the page like 4th July fireworks.
 
Maybe Doug is managing the sewing Dept and Ordering of Mercury racing O/B Motors?
Glad Checkmate will return to production.:surf:
Unsure Why they would Keep Bad seeds when time was ripe to replant.

There will be a press release tomorrow, Tuesday 7-16-13 in which Joe from Hustler will announce the purchase of Checkmate.
Checkmates will continue to be manufactured in Bucyrus, OH facility, and now will be going through a complete plant cleaning and prepping all molds to start production on August 5th 2013.
The website will also be revamped to showcase both Checkmate & Hustler product lines.

chatted with guy with a 52 hustler with triple 800's for awhile, he was good friends with the owner of hustler and confirmed the transition between checkmate and hustler to be true......

I posted this in my boyne thunder thread.....
and when I talked to the man it was on the 12th of the month, it was confirmed as of then:sleep: don't f'n believe a thing I have to say.....why am I even on this site once again:sick:
 
I think you're reading too far into that Ross. We have all known of the hustler deal for awhile and but nothing a guarantee until the ink hits the contract. I don't think you were being questioned on that statement.

it cracks me up on this site w/ guys that have checkmates that think they have some big power boat( as I don't ) that being said while I chatted with the man(that was VERY good friends with the owner of hustler) he told me it was a done deal and it hadn't it the "internet news" yet.....whatever, go on with the BS of this site and I hope you all stay informed in the "powerboating" industry:thumb:

Ross, all was rumor until I received word via email last night from a very reliable inside source, who is still with the new company btw. With all of the skeletons Doug has it may not have taken much to kill the deal. I knew it was coming due to the weekly updates I was getting between discussing my new build, but just didn't want to post misinformation.

There's good news for Checkmate Powerboats fans that were worried about the future of the company a couple of months ago. Global Marine Power, the parent company of Hustler Powerboats in Calverton, N.Y., announced today that it has purchased Checkmate Marine's assets.
Hustler Powerboats, a manufacturer of high-performance offshore boats since 1979, will now be able to offer 17 models to customers looking for boats under 30 feet by Checkmate.
"With a strong presence in the center console and small performance outboard boat market, Checkmate makes a great addition to the Hustler family," said Paul LoGiudice, sales manager for Hustler Powerboats. "With 84 years of history between the two companies and 32 different models of boats ranging from 18 to 50 feet, the unification will appeal to the new customers who are looking to find an affordable boat while working up to a larger boat without the need of changing companies down the road."
Checkmate will continue to produce and operate in Bucyrus, Ohio, and complement Hustler's current distribution channels. According to Hustler owner Joe LoGiudice, who seemed very excited about the new business opportunity in a phone interview today, the Checkmate facility is being cleaned up so they can start fresh with production on August 1. He also said they plan to run production similarly and retain many of the employees, including general manager Dean Reynolds and former owner Doug Smith.
"Hustler and Checkmate share many of the same attributes—they're custom, hand-laid, high-quality boats with exceptional performance," said Doug Smith, who founded Baja Marine and bought Checkmate six years ago from founder Bill Combs. "I am excited to see what Hustler will be able to help Checkmate accomplish."
