Checkmate Rookie

Diplomator

New member
A buddy and I just purchased a 1984 Checkmate Diplomat with a 115hp merc on the back. Bought it from a nice guy in northern michigan. Seems to be in real good shape and runs good. I think we're just starting to realize what a cool boat we actually got. I'll attach a pic as soon as figure it out.

I think it's two different boats ones and '83 other is '84 and it sounds like Diplomat115 hasn't purchased yet.

Thanks, I didn't notice the year or specific location. I saw Diplomat, 115 hp and Michigan... Went back and you are correct one is an '83 from southest Michigan and the other is an '84 from northern Michigan.

Again, Welcome to the site and best of luck with the new Mate!:bigthumb:

I know I'll be asking you guys some pretty basic questions about this boat and fixing and replacing some broken equipment. We have owned and been around boats our whole life primarily for fishing and having fun. But we decided to buy a ski boat for the small lake my buddy lives on down here instead of driving up north every weekend with gas prices so high. Coincidentally, I think we'll be doing more than just skiiing behind this thing. Probably having more fun than we anticipated down the Saginaw River.
