I now have a new project . As a few of you know this was bought last fall by a friend of mine and he just lost interest in it so I bought it last week. Its been at my home on the lake in northern Michigan since july 4th weekend (needs wheel bearings) thats why its been there so long . But I have two new hub kits on the way and plan on bringing her home this weekend if everything showes up on time . Than I am going to switch the 80 hp merc out for a bigger merc in my garage fire the bigger motor up and check it out . Than going to pull that motor and start taking the boat apart . She will be getting a new interior and paint job and alot of other stuff along the way . Ill be posting pictures of the process as I go along . Cant wait to get started . Going to be changing out the trailer too this one is in bad shape .

Please DO NOT paint that boat, keep the gel coat. A few fresh seats and a mota thats all it needs, well maybe some TLC. But DONT paint it.

It needs a paint job he top was painted before and some one used a spray bomb. And in spots some one hit it with a grinder and messed up the gel under he paint . But it will all be fixed . The top paint feels like sand paper its so bad . Pictures make it look better than it really is . But she's still solid and will make a great project and is very simple in design . With he help of my dad and a very good friend she will look great and be set up right .

Hubs are installed and she's ready to make a trip home now . Now with that down its time to take the pontoon out and the dock . Not looking forward to that

I hear ya, my pontoon and dock are still in the water as well, I keep putting it off but I guess I better go do it soon, I hate that job.

Good luck on the V-141 resto.

Update , The boat is still up at the lake . Dicided to pull the distributor instead and replace the trigger . The wires were in very bad shape and needed to be replaced the brown wire was actually broke right at the base of the trigger . I purchased a new trigger kit from CDI that had both disks one for a 4 cylinder and one for a 6 cylinder . Also came with new bearings . Put the distributor back together friday and my dad took it with him yesterday morning back up to the lake and installed it back on the motor . So this up coming weekend when I go back up I can lake test it and see how she does before I pull that motor off .

The motor is all back together now and I took her out for a cruise yesterday afternoon . Ran great and was a fun ride . But the project will be put on hold Since I have bought another checkmate that I want to build . I was looking for a different trailer and checkmate bucket seats and checkmate trim tabs and I happend to find everything I wanted just got a boat with it . The more I looked at the Vmate the more I like it and have dicided to build it instead . I will eventually get back to this project but the Vmate is coming first .....

Well its been 3 years and time to bring this thread back to life . My Vmate I is pretty much finished and I still have this boat I couldnt get rid of . I thought more and more about it and decided that I will just rebuild this one too . Just not quite sure how im going to do this one yet . Have some pretty good Ideas though . I know it will be painted all white . Whats really funny is im not a big fan of white . I am going to take the 80 hp Merc off and hang this shorty on it I guess ...

Went out and made room this weekend to bring this thing home .On top of not feeling good . Im not sure when ill bring it back . I am going up this weekend if I don't take the Vmate up with me I can bring this one back ...I would at least Like to open the floor up and see what im going to be working with .

I ran out of time this weekend to do anything with this boat . Had to much to do up at the lake to even walk over to the other house and even look at it . Ill have to make a special trip back up now . But on the bright side we got the pontoon out and the dock out of the water . Jet skis and the lifts out . Raked up a bunch lake weeds that washed in . The lake level Is very low again too. I did have the Trimate out though since it was nice . First time back in the water since july ...
