Convincor 270 handling?

PA-Checkmate

Active member
Mines a 2002 496HO and since purchase back in 2018 I've seen several claims online about hull doesn't handle well, but no-one has elaborated on the issue.

Tell me more!!!
thanks

I hope it handles good. You're steering arm will get a workout dodging debris on the lake from after last weeks storms. It's still messy, alot of driftwood floating around.

I have a 2001 270 with the 496. In order to keep it from bouncing between 30 and 40 mph I need to keep the tabs down. With tabs down my 270 loves to lean (unpredictably) quite a bit. I’m running a Bravo one 4 blade prop and I’m going to be switching to a Hydromotive Quad 4 prop. Supposedly the 270 runs the best with one of those.

I have a 2013 convincor 270 (I believe the last one built in Ohio before Checkmate went into receivership) with the 502 running a bravo 4 blade...130 hours on it...and trim tabs...I do not get alot of bounce but i leave the drive mostly trimmed in and the tabs up after planing....Im not a big fan of the way it handles at low speeds but it seems fine at speed.

I think being deep V doesn't help low speed handling. I don't add trim until above about 40, but if U se tabs I can cruise about 30 and adding trim then helps.

Mine has the 502 430hp Merc....I wish they would have installed the 500+HP version of that engine in the boat...with a full gas tank and a few people in it it could use the extra HP...
