Convincor questions

Hello,
I have an 02 270 convincor with the 496 mag HO.
I'm running a 26p 3 blade quicksilver prop. It's what I bought it with.
Just wondering if anybody with the same boat, what there top speed is, prop set up, improvements for speed. Interior upgrade ideas. Just some general discussions. Just trying to get some feedback. I had thought about taking the turbulators out. Also I think my boat is due for the impeller replacement. Is that something I can do myself. Any replies would be appreciated thanks

Sweet!!! Another mate in Pa! My old 251 convincer is easy to change out the impeller & water pump, as long as you take out the back seat...which isn't too hard either. Maybe an hour long job total. Most of many of the convincors like 4blade props for better overall cruising & handling, but the three blades usually yield better top speeds. Just guessing but you should run mid - high 60s with that combination gps. Someone else will chime in with much better knowledge. Spring can't get here soon enough!!!

Are you sure you are running a 26p 3 blade? Most of the mercury props that are 3 blade only come in odd number pitches. I do know that our hulls (253/259/270) are much happier with a 4 blade Bravo 1 prop. I'm guessing a 24-26p for your boat. You will be amazed at how much better the boat gets on plane and how much better it handles at speed with the 4 blade. You might lose 1-2mph over the 3 blade, but to me, it's totally worth it. I have tried both 3 and 4 blade props on my boat, and I'll take the 4 blade everyday. im guessing your boat should easily run mid to upper 60's

Hell, we gotta meet up. I'm up in Brady. RGP was running a labbed 26 bravo with his 270. I think he got like 66-67 with only a 496mag

I usually boat on shenango reservoir, kinzua reservoir and raystown lake.
However I have begun to love the lake of the ozarks we bought the boat out there and it ran awesome on that lake plus I love the area.

I'm still getting used to running the boat. From what I hear checkmates are
"Drivers" boats
The boat is in storage until April 1st at the earliest but can't wait to get it out and start tinkering with it. Then can answer all of you who have responded to this thread. I do appreciate all the input.

If you want to fall in love with another lake that isn't near as far from you as LOTO, you should trailer down to Lake Cumberland sometime. The third weekend in July is the annual Checkmate Owners Rally down there. Be a good time to check out the lake, meet new people and usually Saturday and Sunday morning there are 4 or 5 boats backed into the old houseboat launch ramp with wrenches swapping props and testing, so you would be able to try a few out without having to spend any money!! Win Win!!

That sounds awesome. I've heard a lot about that lake just never really had the chance to make it down there. I'll have to see what's going on for July.
Thanks
