CONVINCOR/VISION

ross

Well-known member
i have been thinking of getting rid of my starflite and buying a 251 convincor. my starflite right now runs mid 60's..(63.7gps) with more to come. on the other hand there are lots of places(my ole' ladies grandma live on a shallow canal) that i could not get a boat that size to:irked:but what does the 22vision have to offer? with a big block what speeds would it run??? the only down fall is the cuddy and i understand that. i ran a vision last year and he had no chance but he also had 4 people and it and it was just me and the soon to be wife..... input?????:poke:thanks -ross-

Ross,
I had A 88 vision with 260hp / alpha .Did 62 on gps .I put A 383 stroker in it and the best It ran was 72 on gps . I think the balance of this boat is better with A small block.

If anyone drives up to take a look at the Vision in SW Michigan, give me a jingle and maybe I'll be able to meet you there to check out the boat! Or, in your case Ross, drives 'down'.

is there pics if the vision that's down there???? i guess i missed that one.

Ross, if i had to choose an I/O it would be a vision. My buddy has a sweet yellow one. its a B/R. His runs 62 ish with a 350 in it.

454 MAGNUM (365 hp/7.4 liter) Vision with a Bravo drive (late 1987 or newer) will run upper 60's/low 70's all day long. Standard 454 (330 hp) will run low to mid 60's all day long.

what kind of cuddy does the vision have???? is it any bigger than the starflite? i don't think it could be but i guess i would ask.....

I have never seen one in person but I would guess from the hull design they are about the same. I would bet the vision would be a bit smaller.

One of the reasons I love my Pulsare 2100 is the cabin. It's long and flat; and easily sleeps two adults with lots of room. Great for afternoon siestas or a quick camping trip!!

If you want the best ride and room Convincor all the way. Just think about it,, how do you feel when you hit chop. I can cruse over 2 foot of rough cross chop at 60 and never spill a beer. The bigger it is the heavier it is the better its going to ride. I will take a 15 mph drop in speed anyday to have a better ride. Small boats suck in chop. Been their done that and I aint going back.

What are you talking when you say shallow. My Convincor does not sit that far down in the water. I think mine will run in 3 foot of water don't qoute me on that its a guess. You give her a ride in a Convincor and you will not own anything else. We all cant stand the wife bitchen to slow down because she is getting beat to death on a saturday.

When you say it will "run" in 3' water, do you mean up on plane or does it only draft 3' at rest? Will it get up in 3' of water? I think I know the answer and it doesn't matter to me, but it might be of help to ross in making his decision. Your right on about a deeper heavier boat knocking down bigger water. I know I could do a lot more boating in a Convincer than in my Exciter. In fact, there's been days when I stayed home knowing that the ride would not be enjoyable.

I don't really know how to answer that. I know the drive is not touching the bottom in 3 feet of water. But I have never been stupid enough to hammer down on the boat in 3 foot of water. This weekend I will measure about where the water line usually is to the bottom of the drive to see what I get

:sssh:

The yellow dots represents the water line on my boat. A Convincor sits higher up in the water than a lot of people think.

interesting....... i guess i was thinking it sat alot lower than that:poke: when i say shallow i mean probly 2.5 to 3 foot. the river is controlled by a damn so it changes as the season goes on. i suppose the vision would sit about the same for draft..
with a big block in it for sure!-ross-

I have to agree with Big Red. I have a 253 convincor and I gan go full bore (65 on GPS) in 3 footers and it is not a bad ride. I can motor (slowly) in about 2-3 feet of water. I usually want almost 5 feet before I put the hammer down to take off because those props are expensive. As far as the cabin goes.....that is why I wanted a convincor.....it has quite a bit of room compared to other 25 footers and is quite comfortable. The girls love having the port-a-potty. The bolster seats are a must....I love being able to stand up when hammering waves and lounging in the no-wake zones.

I've got a 253 Convincor with a 300 hp 454 that will run 60 mph and can run that speed in 3' chop all day long. I have a buddy that had a 23' Baja with a 700hp 502 that would run 74mph, in rough water, I could out run him. I will take the ride of a Convincor over anything else I've ridden in.
