Crank Bolt

I can't get the crank bolt out without the motor turning, and I don't have an impact wrench. The same problem is also happening when I try to remove teh "cush drive" thingy from the flywheel. Any suggestions?

An impact gun is best, but seeing how you dont have one, you may try this method. I assume the engine is on an engine stand? You arent chasing it around the floor are you? If its on a stand, wedge a pry bar between the engine stand and a tooth on the flywheel. Then have someone crack the bolts loose. If its rolling around on the floor, then wedge the pry bar between the back of the block and the flywheel.

Just make sure you get a good bite on the flywheel, you dont want to just catch the end of the tooth, or it may break off.

Thanks dude, it is actually sitting on a pallet. It is May 1, and the motor still isnt ready. They said it should be ready to ship this Wednesday, but I still won't believe it till see it. I am getting pretty bullsh**, considering they charged my credit card the day I ordered it (march 29) and almost 5 weeks later I still having nothing to show for it.

That sucks. Its unfortunate that there are so many dishonest people in that business. I hate when people lie or break promises. When I take on a job, I always tell it like it is from the beginning.
I just finished a battle with Eddie Marine. I got jerked around for weeks on a warranty problem with my hatch hinge pistons. They admitted sending me pistons with faulty seals and still jerked me around on the repair. They suck, I will NEVER buy any of their products again.

the wonderful world of mecanics life

tools are always the best way.. an impact is best.. and there are cordless ones availble too.. (( my handy lil helper)) my cordless is from snap on.. and cost about 400 bucks... and it will do the job.. you can probably buy an air compressor, and a half inch impact for about 300 bucks.. ps.... my wife likes all the benifits of an air compresser.. and she steals my tools... <<< so i have air at home in the garage..>>>>

Heat it

If you can get at the crank bolt in the front and the flywheel in the back get two wrenches/rachets and a helper and go at it from both ends at the same time. Once you break one end free reverse and break the other end free.

Thanks guys, I was able to get it by using a 5/8 wrench with a pipe for leverage on the flywheel bolt, and then used a breaker bar on the crank bolt. It is now May 6, and the friggin motor isn't done, and their secratary got short with me for calling on the days she tells me its going to be ready. So angry...

I called them again on 5/8/06, they again told me it would be ready Weds or Thurs, they fed me that line 2 weeks ago tho, this time if it isnt ready Im gonna contact my credit card company to see if I can stop payment..
