Customer service...Really!?

So, I went into West Marine the other day looking for a impeller for my 40hp merc. I didn't see the one I needed in stock. So I asked one of the "Customer service" reps. He tries to sell me a Jabsco seawater pump impeller. I insisted that I wanted a correct Qucksilver outboard water pump impeller. And he insisted the jabsco would work. after going round and round with this guy and showing him the impeller and the part# in the book he would not order the one I needed cause....I quote.."He just put one in his boat and it worked fine" I asked him what kind of boat he had and he said he had a sailboat with a yanmar in it. I asked him if a yanmar deisel was a mercury outboard!!, So he says "It doesn't matter, they are all the same!!! "WTF!?!:brickwall:
These people are supposed to have some sort of training?? Right??
Anybody else have issues with this place, it seems it something everytime I go in there. (I avoid it as much as possible now)

They walk among us. Besides what you stated, their prices are high as well.

The people at these "boat stores" dont know chit, im not sayin all of 'em, but most of 'em!!

the "it'll work" atitude sucks, ask them if thier inferier part fails... they gonna fix your chit???

We had a boaters world in the area for a while that recently closed, TheNerd had a really helpful guy that worked there, his name was chuck. He misses him very much.

was a great place to go in a pinch but not the most knowlegable people.

A lot of people take pride in there work and do a great job. But to be flat out wrong, then proved wrong and still insist they are right is bad bussiness and could end up costing thousands in damage and at the extream end ,someoone could get hurt.
Its like selling a sheer bolt for a steering linkage and telling them "It'll be ok I put one on my sunfish sailboat,So,this guy hooks it to a 250 hp outboard and runs over a family in a canoe when the linkage breaks. seems dumb.

It's kinda like Autozone "Stupidzone" all they know how to do is type it into the computer, ,,,,,having ANY knolage about automotives at all is definently NOT a requierment at the interview
