I was looking through some of my old brochures and noticed that Checkmate made a "cat"...This is the one and only one I have ever sean...Anyone know if it was ever produced? What year or years was it made? Any performance figures with the twin outboards? Ckeckmate needs to make some "cats" again...give those eliminator's and talon's something to compete with! Jim.

It's called a Persuader Cat.....made in 1986, 1987 and maybe 1988 im pretty sure.....only sold about 5 or 6 of them! Don't have any performance figures....heard it was a good ruff water cat for 25 '.Not as fast as say a 24 Skater! Never got the chance to run one myself

Two big twin blower big block Convincors attached with a center section would make one HECK of a big nasty CAT......4 motors, yikes!

1995 Pulsare 2100BR/1995 Mercury Promax 225 2.5 EFI/ 1.87:1 Torquemaster/ RapidJack Heavy-Duty manual 10.5" setback/ 23" Tempest worked for ski duty

I can try to scan my brochure copy of that cool "CAT" checkmate sometime and e-mail it if you like. Has anyone ever seen one in "real life"???? I

I worked at a marina that sold one of the first checkmate cats to leave the factory. The steering and the engines were rigged at Ocean Outboard in Merrick, Long Island, and the hull was sold out of O'Neill's Boatyard in East Rockaway, Long Island. The boat was rigged with twin 2.4 Mercurys, and a had fixed center tab. She ran between 80 and 85 mph. The boat was raced professionally by Steve Green. He had some success, but in flat water the Skaters ran away from him. The hull is now retired from racing, and is for sale at Ocean Outboard. I do not know what the sale price is.

I scanned and e-mailed you (Erik) the 1987 brochure photo of that Persuader CAT...How cool is that thing and why doesn't Checkmate make any now...Where are the molds hiding??? Jim.

There was one running on the San Jacinto River between Houston and the Ship Channel 15 years ago. we were running along at about 60 and came up on him, he gave us a thumbs up for having a checkmate and then just dissapeared leaving nothing but a wake. saw it on a sling a couple of times after that.

Yes I saw one at the factory back in @1988. It was black and set up for an I/O. The factory wanted to sell it after testing. I think they wanted $5000 for the bare hull. Hull was like a 30' chris cat with 5' removed from the rear. it was built real heavy (to heavy). I was going to buy it but got a 24' skater instead.
