when I bought my 1980 enchanter, it came with the original 1978 sweetwater trailer. My friends laughed and me and said that the old tandem axle steel trailer would get eaten up quickly by the salt water here in Pensacola. Two years later she's still goiing. Bought it in great shape and it's still in great shape. Grinding all the rust off tomorrow on the frame and priming. It's amazing how hard that steel is. Even the fenders are heavy duty.

I hear the same thing about my trailer. "you spent all that money on the boat and you drag it around on a steel trailer." My trailer originally had a Scottie Craft on it back in the early 70's. My dad owned a machine shop, his crew customized that trailer for my skimate. This year I re-painted it, put new boards on it and a new axel. Pulls like a dream, backs up straight, and far superior than a bolt together aluminum trailer. How many 35-40 year old aluminum trailers do you see?

I have steel trailers with all my boats but I also live in Michigan and they are only used 6 months out of he year . I do have one trailer that is 50 yrs old and all I done is replace be hubs and wheels

I also have a steel trailer and probably use the same boat ramps as you Happy . Mine gets cleaned up and painted when needed . still works good . It's and 82' model .
