Drives turn In or Out?

What is the ride/handling/speed difference with your props spining In vs. Out. Which direction would give you better handling at high speeds? My 283 Convincor w/454 mags is turning in. I'm curious what to expect if I reverse my props. Anyone tried.

i'm assuming you mean to switch drives and not props. i've heard and i can't remember which is which, but, one way will bring the transom down the other will raise the transom and thus give you a better top end by reducing the wetted surface. handleing may change somewhat especially in tight turns.

Turning both props in on that model is the fastest setup. By spinning them out the boat will be more stable on top end but will slow the boat. If you are not experiencing any handling concerns run them the way you are currently, it frees up the boat more and is considerably faster on top end. What setup are you running? props? hydraulic steering? k-tabs? what kind of speed are you seeing on gps?

My current setup = 2000 283 Convincor twin 454 mags 385hp each
external hyd steering dual ram tabs
27p Labbed Mirage 3 blades
WOT 4500 rpm's @ 72.3 gps
2800 rpm's @ 41.3 gps
3200 rpm's @ 53 gps

I'm going to try a set of 27p Mirage plus's to see if I can gain top end. This boat was ordered identical setup to the 1999 Hot Boat mag test. They were able to see 80.1 gps, mine won't get there yet.
