dual motor setup

as you all know im in the market for a new motor. i have found a couple, but i have somthing else in mind. would it be at all possible to rig two of my 115's on my predictor? i have a line on one to match mine. the weight would be around 600#. would there be enough room? i got the idea from the powercat site. there are all kinds of those older boats with two motors. would two work with my hull design? i am very serious about this so lets here your 2 pennies on this matter.

It can be done but the big problem would be controlls and steering for those old motors.With a motor plate you could mount them.As thick as mate transoms are I would think it would hold the weight.Hey were there is a will there is always a way.

you'd have a LOT of torque trying to tilt the boat to starboard. You might be able to counter that some by mounting more weight to the right.

You will gain some speed, but not a whole lot with two gearcases being dragged through the water. For the cost, you're probably still better off selling the motor you have and replacing it with an old rebuilt 2.5
 
BAD IDEA WITH BOTH MOTORS SPINNING THE SAME DIRECTION. AT HIGHER SPEEDS WHEN TRIMMED OUT THE BOAT CAN "BLOW OUT" SIDEWAYS DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF PROP TORQUE PUSHING THE STERN TO ONE SIDE; NOT TO MENTION THE WEIGHT AND DRAG OF THE ADDITIONAL MOTOR AND RIGGING. BETTER OFF FINDING A NICE LATER MODEL V6 TO HANG ON YOUR TRANSOM!!

I would think that it wouldn't be worth the effort because of the hydrodynamic resistance alone, then add the extra weight and wind resistance of the second motor and you wouldn't gain very much. How about having some fun with nitrous oxide to gain more power?

Glad you asked, because I have the same thought for a Starflight. I was thinking about what it would take to mount two 2.4’s. My concerns are the controls, steering, weight on the transom and most of all stability at high speed. I would like to hear from anyone that tried it and was it worth the effort.
 
well i have given up on this idea. i have some one to purchase my motor. i think it would have looked pretty slick once it was done. too many loose ends to tie up to get it right though.
