Enchanter Weight

Vandalizer

Well-known member
Either the 1980 brochure was wrong, or the '80 version of the Enchanter OB was one portly girl! The Checkmate brochure states 1500#, while NADA states 2350#. An Exciter from the same year (two feet shorter) weighs in at 1025#. 1500 seems high, and 2350 is out of the question. A 1986 Enchanter is 1275# per the Checkmate brochure.
Anyone know if there was anything different about the '80 version or the actual weight?

That's a tough one to answer. You'd almost have to run it on scales to know for sure then figger out how to subtract the trailer weight based on their manuf. data. How come you need to know?

i am pretty sure the newer model does weigh less. 1500 seems a bit high for the hull only though.

I was looking at one of the Enchanters for sale on the board here, and was really surprised to see 1500# show up in the brochure when I was checking it out. It's definitely nice to have a solid boat, but if that number is true, it's surely overkill.

Kip, any chance you know something we don't?

I would guess that 1500#s is the correct weight.

The Starliner/Flight was the next generation and my brochure says 1400#'s for an '87.

The new Pulsare's are 1375#s. Take into consideration that they feature newer (lighter) materials, and are a bit shorter than both the Starflight or Enchanter.

Of course, it is rare to find a Checkmate of that vintage with out a little added water weight, so my guess would be over 1500#'s.

Good luck. :thumb:
