Enticer or Diplomat

I have a checkmate that Im looking to travel a decent distance to pick up. The current owner says hes not sure what model it is, how can i distinguish the difference between the two. Looking at the pictures on the site they are similar. It is the blue model. 1984. Evinrude 140 v4.

My first attempt to post a picture hope it works.

i dont know much about the evinrudes.. ive always liked mercury.. what do you guys think about this engine?

Yep I'd say thats an Enticer. Looks like a friend of mines that got hit by a semi on I-20 outside of Birmingham years ago. Anderson Marine in Cullman said it got fixed and sold. Left a blue skid mark on the highway about a hundred feet long.

It's an Enticer. All Diplomats came with the higher windsheild, and there are some subtle differences in the body lines. The Enticer is also 6" narrower and rated for 125 HP. It looks like it is in very nice shape.

WOW, that is in great shape. I have a black '85 that is nowhere near as nice. Looks just like mine, even the trailer looks the same (except my trailer is black). What is the asking price? Don't worry, I'm not gonna buy it, I'm just curious.

Nice! Where you from? Up north so you gotta store it away for 6 months now? Or down south where you can use it now?

Im about in the middle.. Northern Virginia. It was 70 yesterday and I was out on the lake. The wind was blowing about 15-20 mph making the water really rough but I didnt let that stop me!

I tell you what if I ever come across a red one I think I would. I did have someone offer to buy my boat right off the ramp at the marina yesterday!!

If you look in the catalog, the enticer is only rated for 125 hp. the windshield height was optional on both boats (ie.. 5"taller winsdshield option on all checkmate outboard models)
Get the hin# and call Mike at the factory, and he can pull the original sales order and tell you what it is, and what dealer it was sold thru.
We had a 1980 Diplomat with a 2.0 l 140 and a 6" hydraulic jack plate. we could turn a 22 p raker at 6300 rpm and the motor wanted to be mounted higher but DAMN that little boat would fly!!!
