etec 300 engine chip

brp has a chip for the 300 etec to add 10% more hp. so if anyone else is running the etec 300 talk to your dealer.

Where does the chip get installed? I have the 250hp with the EMM (engine management module) and thought you would need to get that remapped.

I went to www.etecownersgroup.com and don't see anything about a performance chip on there. Those guys are up to date on etec's. Here's a link to a guy wanting more hp out of a 250 ho which is cranking out about 275 hp. The only way to get more hp is send the motor to an engine builder. http://www.etecownersgroup.com/post/250ho-more-power-5168549?trail=15
This is in the link:

It cannot be altered because the key component is the EMM (computer) and that cannot be altered from factory specs like a Merc. The EMM mapping programing ends at 6300rpm after that there is nothing, its blank in the EMM to program. If you want to go faster you HAVE TO burn more fuel, no options there, therfore remapping is essential. Only way a motor can be modded is physically, eg: porting, but what is the good of that if you cannot remap the fuel/air & ratio curves. Check this video below. It is an OMC V6 putting out 467hp at 7500 rpm if I remember correctly, for a bass boat. A similar powerhead to the E-Tec with radical mapping & ignition. It will give you an idea. THis sort of thing would take millions to develop in an emmisions engine. Its all about high RPM's & torque. Yes the OMC (pre E-Tec)they can be modded to extraordinary torques & horsepowers. Way higher than any other brand of outboard but its all about the complete package of engine components, exhaust, ignition, induction, port timing etc.
As a footnote, the Drag version of this engine developes at least 527hp with incredible torque. No Merc can touch it & believe me they try. Check the pics with the video.

Nice !

i really dont know if its a chip or a whole new emm. what i think it is, is now it might not have the same emmision standards as before. i noticed im burning more oil and probably more gas. it is noticable though. before i could only run a 26 pitch and now i can run a 28. its from brp because it does not void warranty. maybe im just a guinea pig to test it because the brp rep was there when my dealer told me to bring my boat.

ya i checked etec owners group as well and didnt see anything either. i just stopped by my dealer and dropped off some props that he let me try and he told me he had something to make me faster.

Heres my Buddys 250 HO, anyone that says the EMM is untouchable is lying.....heres a NON Rev limited 250 HO etec, hes getting about 312hp at the prop, 16inch Mid, open exhaust chest, Stock internals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5gDdEuuMgE heres the Guys with the KNowledge, they run up in Fox lake Illinois, just look up Blarney Island Boat Drags or Races:devil:

Sweet!!! Nice to see you back and thanks for the help couple of years ago with the EMM.:thumb:

I can vouch for cdmasterg's dealer, guy knows his stuff when it comes to anything performance outboard, I got all my past motors from him and he knows all the ways to get any and all possible more power out of them, and still keep it reliable, he got a award and free can am atv this year from BRP for most e-tecs sold in north america for san pan, aquapatio, and sweet water boats, right now he is rigging a 22'Couger with triple 300 e-tecs, if Dave says it can go faster it can go faster.

Biggest problem with the OMC's (and I love them) is the factory support for performance parts is not there like it is with Merc and in my recollection at the average Joe consumer level it never really has been.
