Exhaust manifold crak...repair??

I have an 84 GM V6 3.8 L 185hp.....today I found a big ol crack in the right side manifold and unfourtunaely its cracked all the way thru....

my question is....is there any repair that can be done to this before i just go out and spend $200 on a replacement kit????....maybe weld it?...maybe some sort of liquid metal or liquid weld or some other sort of high temp sealant??...or maybe i dont know what the hell im talking about.....but thats why im asking...

its probably a good 6 inches or so and water was whizzing out of it when i started it in the driveway today...

well i have repaired a couple cast and aluminum manifolds at my welding shop by grinding the crack about 1/8 inch down then heating it up till red hot and tigging it i have never had a problem with them after welding as long as you dont remove heat too fast because it will cause stress cracks sooner or later. liquid weld wont last for long i wouldnt think. hope this helps.

unfortunately i dont have a weld shop.....but sounds like it can be done...thanks

it will only hold untill it cracks to an exaust port then you get water in the motor

if you ask me its not worth the 20 or 30 buck you might save

go ahead and replace both they are probably the same age and not winterized properly

check barr marine and osco
glm and sierra also have manifolds

look on iboats.com

This is true........forget repairing it....installed the new ones over the weekend and should be good to go for the up-coming weekend:thumb:
