faria guage question

Well-known member
do any of you have faria guages on your boat? i am curious how accurate they are? i know that speedo's are NOT accurate but i took the boat out for the first time with my gps installed(garmin 430, dash mount) and it was ALOT different then my speedo:shakehead: it was worse than the factory guages on my previous flite with the same gps:o just wondering your thoughts on these guages;) thanks guys:thumb:

i have these gauges on my boat in combination with a few livorsi. i like both to be honest although a regular speedo is going to a little off no-matter what..

the two guages most common to read incorrect are fuel and speed. I know livorsie marine can hook you up with a similar type guage incorporating a gps into it which will read accurate. They also sell fuel sending units that will read accurate at your guage too. They may be a place to start looking for guages that may suit your needs. I'm sure some of our supporting vendors on here are dealers. They may chime in. That hose feed system for the speedo you can get to work better, but I have never seen one that is accurate, (close) but not on time.

I got em in both mine and love them. My green boat speed is within 1-2 mph at 70. The playmate is close but farther off than the green boat.

Faria are good durable gauges, try installing a better pickup on the transom if it's not going through your drive. The speedo will never be spot on because they work off water pressure.

I replaced the quicksilvers with a set in the ol Exciter when I repowered- worked great and were decent gauges, imo. The speedo was off, but thats what the gps is for.

I'll also say that the fuel level was deadly accurate on the gauge (had new sender in tank too) and that Exciter holds 27gal of fuel when its bone dry.

Hey ross, Have what I think are original Faria gauges in the Playmate. Speedo reads a little slow compared to GPS. Tach is right on. You know how gas gauges are with all of the bouncing around going on but they are all still workin after 15 years or so. I like em.

I have had a Faria speedo in my boat for a little over 15 years. It's about 5mph optimistic at 80 but it is a good quality guage. If I had the $$ I would replace all my others with Faria's. :thumb:
