Few pics from the lake, me and my buddy racing a little

Weather was cloudy all day so we sat around being lazy and drinking beer, right before dinner time we decided to go run a little. Me and my buddy running our Concords. Mines the blue and white Magnum II. His his the black and yellow Mach III. Mine has a built 350 with an alpha. His is 330 hp 454 with bravo drive. We were running almost dead even at 60-61 mph.

Well, those are not very pretty looking boats if you ask me. But the truth is the winner in the race is the man with a woman in the boat. Any sausage party cruiser is a loser.

Concords have thier own look to them, and haven't changed in years. I've seen several in person, they look good and get the job done.

Way better than a Bayliner thats for sure.

Nerd,

Please don't hesitate to tell us how you really feel... Ouch!

87 Magnum, pretty cool.....looks like you guys were having fun! Those Concords are great boats. They were designed by one of the origional Baja founders from my home town.

Nice action shots Magnum! I don't mind the look of these boats at all but then again I'm a sucker for the old school look esp if they are original.

It's just a thought but as for the water at the back, it may be the long angled tips shooting exhaust at the surface. Straight cut tips may solve it.

Nice looking boats, definitely different than the norm.
I have noticed that Brian's enchanter does the same thing with the water in the rear.

Good old school looking boats.

I have run short and long, straight and angled tips on the enchanter's and it does not matter, they all do that. I like how it looks personally, like the boat is really moving! :bigthumb:

Nice looking boats. I almost bought one. But a closer look showed a crack in the fiber glass by the out drive. I walked away. Later learned someone bought it and the drive damn near broke off. The Marina who sold the boat gave the money back, pulled the engine and drive out and crushed the boat. Thank god a Checkmate came along and not from that Marina.. But a private so called boat seller.. I might had to do some repairs but no regrets.

Thanks for the very kool action shots of those Magnums....

As SippyRat said ----- I love "old school" performance boat designs like those Magnums.
I'd be proud to have my Mate running next to your Mag...

Ok, I am a D!ckMate, didnt mean it like that, but I guess thats the way it came out.

87Mag, welcome to the forum. Nice pics. Don't take any comments the wrong way, ya just gotta remember this is a checkmate forum...so we have a strong preference towards a particular boat manufacturer. My addiction is a new one. I think what everyone is trying to say is not that your boat looks bad, just that you'd look better in a mate. :bigthumb: My buddy's brother has a concord...I think it's a '90 with a 454. He swears it does 70, but I'm guessing that's on the lie-o-meter. Was the concord you were running with topping out at 60-61??

The yellow boat is a 1990 20 ft Mach III. It has a 330 hp 454 with a bravo. Turns a 23 pitch to 5000 rpm and tops out at 60-61 mph, BUT, we are at 3000 feet above sea level. Don't know how much difference that makes butnid have to say that the elevation scrubs some speed.

The guys that build the Concords in Arkansas say that at low elevation a 330/454 should pull that boat close to 70mph so your buddy may not be far off.

And I didn't get bent about the rude comment. I do believe that calling a mans boat ugly is right up there with calling his woman ugly. Think it all you want, don't state it publicly. :poke:
