Still on the 28 chopper, no new props til next year at this point...I've spent enough on this thing for the summer.
:)

Got a good day today, nobody on the water...went out and played for a while. Its really a stable ride once you get used to it...just gotta keep an eye out for big waves... ;)
Spinning about 6700 rpm...my tach is really in a bad place to see but I watched pretty close today.
Its not a handfull at speed, there is no chine walk at all at 80...you can let go of the wheel at that speed, the hydraulic steering is the way to go... I've been wanting to hit 85 for a while so I was pretty happy.

Congrats on the 85+!!!!
Can you tell me what brand of hydraulic steering you have??
I saw it when we met at Sebago but can not remember.

Also, your friend Dave (Merc Mechanic) helped me with the steering binding problem.
Tell him I said Thanks!!

Bring that sucker down here to the ocean and youll gain a few extra mph. For some reason salt water is always faster. maybe its denser or colder? I know lots of wide open streches where the water is glass. get yourself a 32'' prop and youll blow past 90:surf:

good deal:bigthumb: i have wanted to hit 85 for a while too. i just couldnt find a prop under 400 bucks this year. you have to look for a 30P hoss for the spring. i bet you could see 90 with it at the same rpm.

are you even with the pad now?

Hey 85...the cylinder that controls the outboard is a hynautic I believe, not sure what the helm is...I'll find out. Glad you got the steering fixed though, I'll see him this weekend... :thumb:

Boston, don't think I'll be making it to the ocean this year...I'm actually down in your neck of the woods today in gloucester, I'll leave the boat in for another month or so then put it away for the year...then I gotta start gettin the sled ready for the winter. :D

I'll be prop shopping over the winter for sure...I'm shootin for 90 next year.... I got the 85.6 with 1/3 tank of gas to...so if I run it down and get a nice cool, flat morning I should have a little left this year, we'll see...
