First test run, broke 60!!

So, set her up about 2.5" - 3.0" below the pad, and met with Buss to try a 26p. (Thanks again Buss) I haven't even replaced the steering yet (still sloppy) and it rides like an ENTIRELY different (and better) boat! Water pressure still VERY good (seems like it was better than before) and hit 62 GPS in windy, gusty conditions. I probably only let her run wide open for a few burst of 5-10 seconds. Hit about 5400 RPM, but it was hard to tell... had to keep my eyes on the chop and wind :eyecrazy: !

Next step will be to go up another .5" on the plate, and FIX the steering.

Thats great, I bet you about wet you pants when you saw 60 mph on GPS.

How was the hole shot with that prop? I used it on my V-mate and it was kinda slow getting out of the water.

Boy I better have Kary sqeeze a few more ponies out of my 2.5 this winter or I'll have to just stay off that stretch of the saginaw

Thats one good running 115!

I'm really happy with it.

It certainly doesn't leap out of the water like my 20p does, but it gets on top of the water pretty quick. I think the negative wedge on my jackplate helps.

I was also impressed that when cruising at 3900 RPM (44 MPH) it still snapped me back a bit when I floored it. That's another thing... cruising speed is acceptable now!

i wish i had my camera today:irked:, that enticer looked real good up on the pad

oh well, you'll have it out plenty more this year.. since i left that prop with ya!! ......right??????:poke:

Congrats on the new #'s ToP Enticer.:thumb:

I also run a 26p Laser II.

Let me know how it works when you jack the motor up more.
I know on my pulsare when I go any higher than 2.5'' to 3'' below pad the boat wants to get really squirrely at speed.

In other words just when you really get it trimmed out it will all of a sudden hook to the left hard. Not fun!!

I know our hulls are very similar so just something to look out for.:D

Congrats on the new top speed. Have you installed scoops or plugged the top three holes on your lower unit yet? If so then I think you should raise it up to -2".

I love my 26P LaserII. Thanks to illmattic for recommending it a long time ago.

Cool, that is what i figured. jp+bigger prop= 6 to 8 mph, any chine walk?

Very little chine walk... drove like a champ! (And that's still with single cable steering that's loose. Once I get that tightened up it should be perfect.)

We'll see- I have to look around for a Flo Torq kit... what's the difference between the I and II? Also, those kits do actually protect your lower unit gears, right?
I really hate to put it away now that I am hunting for the perfect setup, so I have a hunch I'll be back out.

That dirty water will make a boat run a little faster.

 You know it! Just North of the Z bridge on my last run to the middle grounds I saw a floating log WAY too late, and took it under the starboard side. I don't know if I just got lucky, but I barely heard/felt it... much less than all the other waves. No damage or scratches that I could find.

Is that where you were running under your Predictor? You have any of the problems Check16 mentioned? The only time it got squirrely on me yesterday was when I backed off the throttle too much at one time :eyecrazy:. That was just my fault- got back into the throttle and sorted it right out.

Are you saying plug the top three on the 5-plug intake (150s, 200s)? Mine has eight... ??

plug the top 3 so your left w/ 5 holes :bigthumb: congats on the speed !

I did a quick search and couldn't find a recommended way to plug em. My first thought would be to use a correctly sized small self tapper. Better ideas?

i dont remember who posted it ? (83 pred. ?) i tapped holes ,put in allen head set screws, then marine tex 'd em in looks like they were never there . it was a very good thread ,lot of pix too

Nice speed...CONGRATS!!!:bigthumb:

I have chopped the hammer at high speed before (ducks) and scared the chit out of myself. I have found that the best way to slow down quick and safely is by trimming in all the way, then slowly come off the gas..

Keep up the good work, and hurry up with the new steering.. I thought you got a hyd. steering set-up? :)

I did... it's a frustrating story.

Had the holes cut out in the dash for the new helm, ran the hoses, then spent 3.5 hours trying to get the d@mn cylinder to fit! The only way I could get it to fit would put the cylinder too close to the body of the tilt tube on the motor, and it doesn't allow full movement. I'll be talking with Teleflex about that today... :brickwall:

Something I forgot to mention in my first post-- I figured out why my speedo doesn't work right. It was peeing on me! Apparently before yesterday I wasn't hitting speeds high enough to make it leak. Another small thing to add to the list...

Plugging water intake holes

I had a thread on it a long time ago. What I did was get some stainless threaded plugs from lowes (i forget the size). Taped the top three holes on each side and screwed in the plugs with lock-tite. I have the old style 8-hole l/w and can now run up to -1" with good water psi.
I'll see if I can find a pic.
btw, you have one strong 115. My 115V4 would only run a 22P to 5400rpm.
